High under hood temp on NA cars are only realy an issue at very low speeds and stoped once your moving iat comes down quickly. If much easier to make radiator fans run at low speeds ,table change in tune, to cool engine bay than messing with insulating intake and venting. although an easy vent is unclipping the plastic piece on the underside of the hood on the RHS of car above the overpipe. oil coolers even the oem type are a good investment in hot climates if you drive hard as is a 5w30 or 10w30 oil depending on climate. IAT temps higher than about 90F will start to pull timing ,but depends on tune you need to look at FLKC fine learning knock control as well as iam to see if timing being pulled due knock. for other compensations like iat and oil temp coolant temp you would need to look at tune tables . |

i think starting fan at lower temp is better idea than vented hood for NA. the iam all the time with E85 is 1.0 |

Now i am sure the stoich is the key.
I like to know how ecutek calculate E85 stoich? Air to fuel ratio is ratio of air mass(gr) to fuel mass(gr) and we know ethanol density is 789gr/litre but gasoline density vary in range 710-770 gr/litre. I like to know ecutek gasoline density number? |

The 02 sensor in car measures 02 and measures this in lamda. The ECU then converts this to petrol AFR numbers so lamda 1 is 14.7 AFR when you run E85 nothing changes the 02 still measures amount of oxygen in exhaust gas and ecu still cinverts it to petrol aft so stoic for petrol and e85 is still lamda =1 the ecu still assumes your on petrol so it converts it to petrol afr of 14.7. But you on E85 so the actual amount of fuel to achieve lamda 1 on e85 is 9.76. It likely ecu does everthing in lamda and then just converts\scales to petrol afr here is conversion table http://honda-tech.com/forced-inducti...chart-3014051/ Last edited by steve99; 03-15-2016 at 06:59 PM. |

You could change the parameter from AFR to lambda.
You could create a custom map to output the E85 AFR....

Things to consider that affect power.
1 Gas quality, even if the pump says E85 it could be E60 2 HUMIDITY!!!! High Humidity will kill the power... These little 4bangers hate it.. 3 Heat will knock some power off.... 4 After market parts. Even if you already tuned it and then you add something it will throw off the tune.... 5 And lastly lack of maintenance.... Dirty air filter, bad fuel, ect. Good luck!! Happy hunting!!!

In E85 85/15 is ratio of ethanol volume to gasoline volume and volume ratio differ from mass ratio. For E85 calculation we need to know the density of gasoline. I do not know ecutek use what number for gasoline density. |

I love it around sep/oct when the temp up here drops. I swear it feels like a good 20-30hp gain. I feel for you guys in Cali who see high temps nearly all year long.
No wonder so many of you go FI |
