ft86partpicker
So I've been toying around with creating a tool similar to pcpartpicker.com for us ft86 fans. The database only has a handful of parts for prototyping, but let me know what you think.
ft86partpicker.com Click on the links on the left to show parts in that category, and click add to add it to your setup. There are some templates to pre-populate your setup. I haven't been on a drive for quite a while, but I am still a frequent lurker and reader here. Mike

Added a bunch more rims and implemented sorting by weight (but not all have weight defined). Also added formatted "attributes" - color, weight, etc.
A work in progress, so any feedback is appreciated! Mike

Weights would be nice, and more description would be nice.

Interesting idea. The main thing I actually really liked about pcpartpicker was the pricing history and the links to buy the parts at the cheapest price, although that would take a lot of up keep to get a feature like that working.

Best to post this in the FR-S section - a great idea like this shouldn't be here on just the regional forum.
Best of luck to you on the project - there's a lot of options out there. |

If other sites had the ability to create public wish-lists, that would be awesome. Thanks for the feedback!

I'll add more weights, definitely. For descriptions, it needs to be short.. do you like "why you need it" type descriptions, or more manufacture details?
Right now there are a few like "Lower your ride height while also improving handling." do you think that's too generic? I tried to keep it short and direct, and applies to similar parts (all coilovers). Maybe another sentence to distinguish between $1000 coilovers vs $3000 ones, for example. Thanks for the feedback!

This is a sick project. Can't wait to see the final product. I like the recommended setups like turbo and monster.

Added wheel colors and widths.. now all I need to do is implement the filters! And maybe make the attribute table 2 columns to fit better.
There are now 25 wheels from $210 to $800, from 22 to 17 lbs. All info is added by hand from tirerack and other sources. There may be errors, so let me know if you see any. Mike

Update: filtering works for wheels, added sort by brand, reorganized categories, added brief category descriptions, added price per individual wheel, added more parts, added reset button under current setup, fixed misc. bugs.
It's coming along nicely. I try different configurations such as budget, style, performance, etc. It's really easy to bounce around adding and removing parts. I played around with a darker theme, but I'm not happy with it yet. Once I add a few more parts and fill in the empty details I'll post about it in the main section. Any last feedback would be appreciated! Mike

Nice work! I really like the default setups that you provide.
One thing that would be handy is to make them more of a template so that users get some options while creating their setup. Instead of giving me a setup immediately, bring me to a page which has some options. Lets say I pick stock+: Instead of directly giving me, say Enki rims, have that as a default but show a side by side comparison of rims of similar cost or similar recommendation (versus showing a list of ALL rims). Same would apply for tires, springs, dampers, etc. |
