Iced Windows?
Wasn't totally sure where to put this, but for those that drive their cars during the winter - When it's cold and you go to open your door, 1. How's your weather sealing holding up? I had to get something out of my car this morning and the window just peeled away from it, sounded awful. and 2. The power window motor... it didn't lower the window when I opened it. There wasn't even any ice on the outside of the window, apparently just at the seal.
Is this a common issue during the winter? |

Yes. More of an issue with the 13s and early 14s.
There are a couple of TSBs that address it though. I had them done and never had an issue even when there was loads of ice. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1389643313 http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1409711423

These cars don't hold up well to snow and ice. Last year after an ice storm I couldn't get in my car for two days, was afraid to pry open the door because afraid I'd break something.
This winter I'm buying a snow / ice cover for my windshield / wipers / and side mirrors: windshield: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/SnowOFF-Windshield-Cover-Shade-Protector/dp/B00RKR7QFS"]Amazon.com: SnowOFF Car Windshield Snow Cover & Sun Shade Protector Kit for Cars & CRVs: Automotive[/ame] mirrors: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/SnowOFF-Windshield-Cover-Shade-Protector/dp/B00RKR7QFS"]Amazon.com: SnowOFF Car Windshield Snow Cover & Sun Shade Protector Kit for Cars & CRVs: Automotive[/ame] And I also have a pretty good technique for doors. Masking tape and a little plastic bubble wrap (easier to handle than seran wrap) kept ice from covering my entire driver's side window and also from from getting in the door gap. Just be wary that masking tape will leave residue behind. |

You should consider applying a product like 1Z Einszett Rubber Care Stick Gummi Pflege, it withstands cold temperatures so your doors do not freeze against the rubber seals.

Silicone Spray the door seals will prevent the door freezing to them. I had the belt mouldings and seal replaced under the TSB mentioned last year, immediate end to the window freezing issue.

Frameless windows freeze to the door frame sometimes, yes. But they do that on all of them not just these.
