I've only had my BRZ a couple of months and haven't had a bad reaction from anyone...

One of the two of the best came from crew of grounds keepers that pulled in for gas at the same station I was filling up at.... They all bailed out crossed over to check it out and say hi! Two of crew were Subaru owners, I had a great time!

The the best was at a little stop in Cool Springs WV on a great little road called Hwy 50. As my wife and I were leaving the restaurant after a quick pit stop we watch a little old lady, about 5ft nothing, 100 lbs and maybe 80 years old, hobbled over to were our car was parked by pumps and take a cellphone photo to her grandson! And she knew what was! LOL. She was a lot of fun, oh and BTW they are still full service pumps!

Had a great "sweet ride bro" moment last week. Pulled into the bank to use the drive-up ATM and not far behind me a big SUV with some nice wheels pulled in after, I figure they just need to use the ATM as well (bank was closed).

As I put my card in the machine, the SUV stops in the drive-through teller lanes, so now I was starting to get slightly concerned that I might be getting robbed.

A guy gets out and runs over - "What is that?!? Does it have a flat engine?!"

"Yep - it sure does" (me still pressing buttons on the ATM)

"It sounds like a Subaru! Is that the new Impreza?"

"It is a Subaru - it's a BRZ" (me getting cash out)

"That thing is meeeeaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnn!"

"Haha, thank you."

"Does it come like that?"

"Not exactly..." then I tell him everything I've done.

"That's awesome - didn't mean to come at you like that. But that thing is bad ass!"

"No problem - thank you"

Then I drive off. I'm normally willing to talk with anybody about and am very friendly, but being approached at the ATM had me all kinds of tense, even though he was just being very nice.

Overtook an elderly bicycle rider and then accelerated off fairly aggressively. Was surprised that he caught up to me at a red light and asked me to roll down the window, I passed him quite considerably giving him a full lane clearance, but cyclist in my area do get pissed off easily. Expected him to shout at me, but all I got was "nice car man, sounds amazing!"

Got another "fucking nice car dude!" a few weeks ago, but it was actually a scary experience. I was in the questionable part of Detroit, passed mid night already and tired, I pulled into the first motel I could find. Heard someone knock on my window, I roll it down to see what's up (probably a dumb idea). It was a big black guy with a large patch of his neck covered in tattoo, totally expected to get shot, but all I got was "fucking nice car dude!" Still decided to get out of the area

Mine has heated mirrors from the factory. used them yesterday morning to knock the frost off the mirrors. They work great.

I think he's referring to the FRS not having heated mirrors as an option.

As per the long discussion in Off Topic there are actually some very nice parts of Detroit now. Just don't make a wrong turn!

I just figure I'd hedge my bets and not turn either way, either direction. I hear there's Canadians not too far from there, best to avoid contact.

Oh yes, there is no way you want to stray across the river.

I'll always get my cars' windows tinted, but I went one shade darker than usual on the BRZ for exactly this reason.
