well according to the site, the press conference won't be until 5 hours from now

another thing to note, it's lists the car as S-FR and not S-FR Concept. so at least we know it has an extremely high probability of being made.

Now to find out if it's coming overseas...

I would definitely say that it is using the ND MX-5 Miata's chassis from Mazda at this point.

There is just no way Toyota burnt cash developing its own roadster.

Edit: It would be interesting if this Toyota S-FR came out the same time as the Fiat 124 Spider, which is also based on the same chassis.

Only if you consider "it is still a concept we don't know yet" as an answer.
The only complete answers in the whole thing were that it is not a collaboration and it won't be built on the 86 platform.
Even though the concept appears production ready they obviously have a pile of work to do yet.

You say that, until it sucks up the car in front of you and gains it powers for a while

Now that would be a game changer, assuming you lived in an area like Miami where there were fast cars everywhere!

Figure I'll take a stab at guessing what Toyota might do with their lineup if they bring the SFR to North America.

The S-FR will replace the FRS in the Scion line-up, the next gen FRS will be badged Toyota like the rest of the world and Lexus will get the new Supra. This would give them an FR car for each of their lineups with appropriate levels of performance and price tags to match and would allow for very aggressive marketing for all 3 products.

I really want to like this car, but I really can't until they close the mouth just a little bit (OK, in half).

Also, it needs to be a targa! (not sure the side profile could pull that off though)
