GO TURBO make sure you buy from FA20CLUB

No seriously don't buy from them lol I'm just messing with you.

Honestly man I think you bought the wrong car, since it's your first car and the first thing you wanna do is add more power to it. Don't get me wrong I plan on boosting my car too but not any time soon, I'm enjoying the car as it is.

But I think maybe you should have looked into the 4 Cylinder 2015 Turbo Mustang, look into a 2015 WRX or even a 2013+ Genesis Coupe. They have the power you're looking for right out the box.

If you're really adamant on adding more power to your 86, I'd say go with a Supercharger. The power you're looking for is easily reachable with the supercharger and since you live in CA there's plenty of SC kits that have CARB tunes for you to pass emissions. But first do your research like everyone says, don't do anything you'd regret since you're young.

Having been 16 once, I know you won't listen to me, but being 39 now I can't help but offer advice in a futile attempt to help someone just beginning their life.

Forget about power mods. You're not as good a driver as you believe you are. More power is just more opportunity to break your car or break yourself. But, you can also learn MORE from a car with less power. It takes a better driver to drive a slow car fast than it does a fast car slow.

This is my advice:
Put better tires on the car, and go to every AutoX you can. Seat time is key. The more time you spend in that seat dodging cones, the better you will become.

Feel free to do whatever superficial mods you like (tint, catback, lights, etc.) But don't change anything performance related until you know you need to, not because someone on the internet says you should. Understand how your car behaves, understand WHY it behaves that way, and understand HOW the mod you want will effect the behavior of the car.

When you know your car to that degree, you will be a good driver and on the path to becoming a great driver in the future.

But to be clear...don't buy the fa20club turbo. Whatever forces induction you go with get a good tune, that's the best thing you can do for your engine.

Honestly, I'd get a different car. Don't get me wrong, I love this car, and I did eventually throw all kinds of money into it, but I doubt I'd do it again, and I have the luxury of being in my 40s with plenty of disposable income, and multiple forms of transportation to use in case my BRZ is out of commission.

Save yourself the time and heartache and just get the more powerful car to begin with, if that's what you're looking for. Enjoy it and the piece of mind an intact factory warranty gets you and not having to worry about breaking something else that you'd need to replace, especially if this is your only means of transportation.

At 16, you haven't owned enough cars and gone through enough headaches to fully understand what this car is really great at. I'm not knocking you, but if you're already looking for more power to dump into your brand new 86, and its the first car you've owned, then this is the wrong car for you.

That all said, if you're set on going FI, go supercharger. It's not better, there's no easy way to answer that question as it's loaded. It is simpler, and it can be CARB legal which will be pretty damned important to you in California. Sounds like they pull people over there just for having an aftermarket exhaust and then demanding to see everything else on the car.

And if you think the cost of boosting and everything is too much for you to handle, I suggest you to buy a used (or new) go kart and join a league. They have track days for hi power go karts and it is not your common $50 bucks indoor go kart event, most of F1 drivers started from Go kart leagues.
Thanks Ive always liked karting as a kid ill look into getting one

EVERYONE isn't giving you shit. Some of us are trying to help you with the big picture which is why we choose to answer the questions you should be asking instead of the uncharacteristically mature and well-considered original question you asked.
