I would buy a Golf GTi over another Subaru product myself.

True that, guess I'll just have to settle for driving it in Forza... Shoot, I'd even love a GC8 2.5RS! My neighbor has a SUPER clean RS and we lust over each other's cars every day. Can't find one of those around here that hasn't been jumped or wrecked out on the logging roads by someone trying to be the next WRC champion.

Thats one of the reasons I enjoy the FR-S. I can stomp the throttle and row a few gears out without getting crazy on the road. In the Mustang I'd hit close to 50mph in first and spin the tires slapping second and then chirping third but by the time I chirp third I'm doing over 70mph so its easy to get out of hand.

Its not a pretty car. I always do the "I dont know anything about cars" guy/girl test. BrZ/FRS usually gets positive feedback. The WRX gets replies like "what about that car" or "its not bad".

I have similar feedback with my RS4. only people that know, knows.

I test drove one and liked it. It's 80% of the driving experience with 100% more usable space. If I could swing it, I'd keep both, but since we're planning on having a second kid, it's not going to work out cause I can't afford 3 cars...haha. My biggest issue is with the seats in the WRX: it just isn't as good as the 86 and feels higher than the TLX and CT200h.

Yeah that concept car inflated everyone's expectations way too high, including my own. The real car (while not bad looking) was a letdown after that.

It's funny, if you ever visit the GTI forums, a lot of them say the opposite (would buy a WRX over another VW product). I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.

I do like my current GTI though, and I also liked my STI hatch before that. Both good cars in their own right.

I drove a MK7 GTi a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed it. My parents have a 2016 Golf R on order for their winter car, I am pretty excited to try it. My problem with Subaru is the general paint and interior quality is really low rent.

I owned an 08 WRX for 4 years before I got a STI then the BRZ. I test drove the 2015 WRX, and I'll say that for values of WRX, the redesign is amazing.

The steering is not at all as nice-feeling as the BRZ's (it's also a higher ratio, so not as quick, so the steering wheel feels lighter), but the actual response of the car in suspension and power is great. The twin scroll makes power come on much earlier than in earlier WRX's, and the suspension improvements are on-par with the BRZ's factory suspension (though it'll feel softer, but in terms of keeping the car on the road and not rolling too hard, there's where you see how well it's improved).

In short, it's a GREAT car. Not as enjoyable as the BRZ, but it certainly moves and reacts way better than any WRX before it.

Yeah you won't win any arguments regarding the styling here or anywhere else lol.

I personally like the exterior. It's not pretty, but they never have been... But I think it looks cool. The interior is much better than the previous gen (I had a 2012 WRX before buying an FRS). About 95% of my complaints with my '12 WRX have been solved with the '15 WRX. Better interior, 6spd, better brakes, better steering, better chassis etc. It feels like a much more complete car and is definitely worth the price. In fact, it's hard to jusity the extra money for the STI over the normal WRX because it's gotten so good.

The STI is on another level though as an out of the box car. The EJ still isn't the best of platforms but if you take them out for a good drive back to back, you can easily notice all the differences. I'm sold on the STI because it gives me everything I want out of the factory (beefy drivetrain with 6spd, brembo brakes, LSDs and active center diff, etc). I'd be able to get an STI and do very little and be done. With the WRX though, there's a list of things I'd want to do to right away, and I'm kind of over spending thousands of dollars modifying a car... I'd rather just spend the extra up front and get what I want from the get go.. but that's just me personally.

I'm just waiting to hear official news on the new powerplant going into the STI before I decide to switch.

If I do it, I'll be getting the STI; no WRX for me.

Tell them to adopt me! My dad used to be into cars (had a Chally R/T in the 70's and a foxbody Mustang in the 80's), but now complains that a Mazda CX-5 rides too stiff.

I'm trying to get him into a 2015 Mustang for his next car, but he's more interested in Accords and Mazda6's.

Having owned a BRZ and now a 15 WRX I completely agree with this. It's a lot of car for the money for sure, but it is not a light RWD, sportscar. Nor is it trying to be. That said, I think Subaru learned a lot from the BRZ and incorporated some of that in the WRX. Very happy with the car I have performance springs coming, and some simple mods to the shifter (stop and bushings) made a huge difference.

My biggest pet peeve with the car is the seating height. The car has the same ground clearance as the BRZ but you feel like you are sitting so much higher and less engaged with the car. One 15 WRX owner dropped in BRZ seats and said it made a huge difference.

I am hoping to own one of each, just have to wait to grab an FT86 when they drop around $15K or less.

My parents will forever be into cars. They actually just got back last weekend from a week ripping around Arizona in a Ecoboost Mustang. He said it was by far the best Mustang he has ever driven and the best build quality, but he didn't like how much space the 2.3L took up in the engine bay and my mom didn't like the way the brakes felt.
