Racing is pay to play. Your best strategy is to get a good job or start a successful business so you can afford to go racing.

The concept of a 'paid driver' quickly becoming an antiquated one and over the last couple decades has been replaced by 'paying driver'. Even in F1.

Have no clue why it still is open actually!
These "Fund Me" threads usually disappear as fast as they get posted for the very reasons demonstrated on this one.

How much work you put into it changes things from dreams to goals.
I have managed to work hard enough to reach most of my goals in life. My dreams however remain exactly that, dreams.

Of course they do. Where are you going to find five supermodels that all want to sleep with you at the same time?

The boys and girls club is a volunteer bullet, which we all have to do one or two of for our performance reports. Not exactly out of the goodness of our hearts.

Military pay is not the greatest, as you well know from your time. Even once you've got some years behind you. You know what I do about that? I don't go to track days. After housing, family, college, and everything else, I can't afford the entry fee and I can't afford to fix my car if it shits itself. Sacrifices have to be made, and luxuries are always the first to go.

To boot, how can you be positive that you'd be able to fill all of the obligations of a contract from a sponsorship while being active duty?

Training events can come up, leave can get denied, orders for deployment can come up, etc. What happens if you're expected to be at an event in May and then orders to deploy come up in March, and you're scheduled for some sort of training exercise or something that doesn't allow you to go?

This is why I'm not involved with any contracts or sponsorships or anything. I'm active duty as well, stationed in Oklahoma, and things change all the time. No point in trying to make a long term commitment with a company, because I already have a long term commitment with the government. Once that's up, I can choose whether or not I'd like to try and get some sort of support.

I had an opportunity to travel with a friend and spot for him in the 2014 Formula D season. The opportunity got presented to me in September 2013 and I told him I'd have to decline it because my job obligations can always change. Sure enough, we came down on orders to deploy the next month and I was gone all of 2014. While that isn't a sponsorship proposal, it's a commitment that I was unable to make because of my job.

While I agree with what a lot of people are saying about trying to make this happen yourself, without asking for handouts or funding from others, I'd recommend waiting until your obligation with the military is over, because it would make it a lot easier to pursue in a more serious way.

That, or finish school, get out and get a job that allows you to earn enough to support your interests/hobbies and just enjoy it during your free time on the weekends.

What you do in your basement is entirely up to you. Just make sure it's soundproof.
