Best header under 1 grand?
I recently bought the Invidia n1 for my frs and was wondering what the best header is for gains/sound? I really like the borla UEL but wasn't too knowledgable about other headers on the market, could somebody fill me in? Thankyou 😎

The best header under $1k would probably be the JDL.
BUT if you want the most out of your money, the OFT + OFH is the best way to go. |

I've been wrestling with OFH vs JDL for a while. From the threads I've read so far, there were some questions about the lack of flex joints in the OFH and whether that had an impact on longevity. I haven't found much more discussion on that so far. Maybe someone can provide some additional insight?
There's also some discussions about the OFH header flange not aligning with the overpipe causing exhaust leaks. I'm trying to find more threads about it, but the link below is the first I've found. I also remember seeing another thread about the pipe diameter between the OFH and stock overpipe. Something about the overpipe diameter being slightly smaller causing weird noises and exhaust to not flow as smoothly. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=390 |

I went with the cheap (less than 400 bucks) top speed EL catless header and Perrin 3" resonated, catless header. Header quality and fit was excellent. I gained 14 hp on the dyne and love the sound. I am #24 in this video.

Most fitment issues with decent headers are caused by installer. they dont use new gaskets , will almost always leak dont clean up 02 bung threads with tap\chaser, will strip 02 sensors and leak over torque bolts causing flanges to warp, poepol ofen do this trying to stop old gaskets leaking. dont loosen midpipe to allow overpipe to header flange to line up without stress catless header will be louder than stock due no cat and often made of thinner lighter material than stock and dont have heat shields, so they sound different have a read of the Basic Bolt on mods link below and read the links to header install in that post. |

P.S I'm on my mobile otherwise I'd search but didnt JDL stop using flex joints because they found that it was unnecessary? Especially considering their first batch of flex joints were defective and they had to recall all of them. So some food for thought. Read about it on their Build thread Obviously I'm biased since I have OFH. The headers fit well and as described. JDL is pure auto porn quality pieces for sure. |

I just got done installing an N1 on my JDL header (and op/fp) and everything about it is amazing.
Except: fuckballs is it loud. And I mean incredibly loud. I can't open it up until the freeway for fear of being hated by complete strangers. The only saving grace is that is sounds great. Really great. Also pulls strong after the dyno tune. I guess what I'm saying is be ready to make noise after the header with that catback. Great noise, but a lot of it. YouTube videos simply do not convey the loudness. |

OFH is the best bang for the buck. Especially if you don't already have a tuning solution and pair it with the OFT.
