I have no idea how I managed to live long enough to realize I was being a moron back when I was young.

You and me both, I shiver remembering how many "oh shi-" situations I've been in that should have killed me.

I'm around this guys age and area where he's from. Racing in the first place is dangerous, but also add in the bad weather that we've been having its just plain dumb. I feel bad for his family and friends that have to live on with the mistake that he made.

No one takes personal responsibilty anymore. It starts with the role models. No one owns it anymore, politicians, athletes, parents it's always someone or something else's fault.

With that attitude you end up never learning your lesson.
The first step in learning is realizing that you don't know.

The number of people in this thread who take responsibility for their own actions is way high. How odd. ETA: I'd hooligan with you as well.

Oh I hear ya on that!
I have a safety committee at one of my plants that consists of me and 4 early 20 something's.
I messed something up once and sat in the meeting and said "sorry guys my fault". They all looked at me like I had two heads and started trying to find some way it wasn't my fault for me!

Except when they've modded the hell out of their car and then complain about a rattle, a trany problem or any number of other issues that could not have been caused by their actions or abuse. It's Toyota's fault.

I think you have missed the point. It's not the mods.

It's not that hard, 'specially being an addict. I suck at sobriety.
