If I understand correctly, the stage 2 tunes are optimized for aftermarket headers with stock intakes?
How do I compensate for a Grimmspeed intake with new headers? Looking to get headers soon but want the tune to work with my intake as well as the headers

They have a specific tune you can grab for the GrimmSpeed intake. There are stage 2 tunes as well for both EL and UEL.

The grimspeed intake had only very minor changes to maf scaling in midrange , about 4% max. It should work fine on V2x stage1 tunes as the stage1 tunes to not have ofset maf scales above 3volts, so you can just transfer in the grimspeed maf scaling. Their is also a minor change to the OL fuel table so copy that across as well.

they have released some stage1 tunes for grimspeed intake.

i dont believe they have done any stage 2 tunes yet.

if you transfer the grimspeed scaling to the stage2 tunes its going to run leaner top end as the stage2 maf scaling is offset above about 3volts to richen up mixture. So you might get some knock and need to offset the maf scale again or richen up the OL fuell table.

probably not something you want to take on a a first job

since you're outside the US I would suggest emailing them, but im sure they could provide you with a list of distributors if there are any in your area.

Wondered if someone could point me in the direction of dedicated Auto Trans tunes?
I spotted a few threads vs google, but havent pin-pointed a specific page yet.
Power bands feel better in current set up, but she doesnt like running at low revs, 1,5-2.5 seems muddy.. if that makes sense!
While automatics are rare, there are still a lot out there. The big question is, what are your STFT and LTFT numbers like in the low RPM's. I noticed my MAF scale was too lean, and consistently had LTFT's over 10. Since scaling my MAF closer and closer to zero STFT and LTFT, I've noticed the car get quieter and quicker.
Automatics also have much higher gear ratios than manuals, so a change in final drive will give much better pickup in the lower gears, while still getting decent economy in 6th gear. I just ordered the entire kit, bearings, seals, shims, solid spacer, and etc. from Spence @ Weir Performance. Here's the price I'm paying for all the parts;
FRS/BRZ 4.88 final $268.70 includes pinion depth shims
Install kit $313.94 (includes all diff bearings, solid spacer with shims, axle seals, pinion seal, pinion nut, gear marker)
ship $20.55
Total $603.19
Installation should be about half that, so roughly $900 - $1000 for everything replaced with new parts.
Stock gearing with the 4:10 rear end is 0.582 @ 4.10 = 1954 RPM's @ 60MPH. Gearing with the 4:88 is 0.582 @ 4.88 = 2326 RPM's @ 60MPH. So, I'm not losing that much MPG, but much lower gearing in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. 6th gear is still taller than a manual's. I would have to change to a mythical 5:404 ratio to match the 6th gear of a manual. You could go to a 5:29 and still have a taller 6th gear than a manual. The gearing change is the best thing you can do for your automatic in terms of low-speed performance.
I also recommend getting a set of used strut/spring/tophats from a BRZ. Then you can have a comfortable setup with GT86 front suspension and BRZ rear suspension, or a firm setup with BRZ front suspension and GT86 rear suspension.

I've been enjoying my OFT (stage 2) and OF Header for a while now but there has been something I've been meaning to ask Shiv (and others who may know). I came from a lifetime of "drive by cable" and find that DBW on the OFT tune, and even the stock tune, to be somewhat too touchy, especailly when autocrossing on sipplery surfaces.

Question - can I tune the OFT for a more progressive throttle, similar to how old school drive by cable feels? I know that Apex sells a thorttle contraption that can desensitize the throttle, but, I figured the OFT could do it also.

From my pondering on the subject, I understand the ethrottle is telling the ECU what my requested torque is under various load and rpm factors. Is there a way to modify the maps to where 50% throttle gives 50% of throttle?

Thanks.

Yes.
Look up this thread, "http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=719796#post719796" for some in-depth drive-by-wire information by members who have actually made changes to it. You can make similar changes in RomRaider to the ones he made in BRZedit. You will need to get RomRaider and become familiar with using it. Use the correct definition files, OFT, not RR, for editing an OFT tune. Since developing more power, I also think my throttle is a bit too touchy. I'll be getting to this after I finish scaling my MAF. You have much more control of this engine, with drive-by-wire, than you would ever have with a cable throttle. You just need to make use of the possibilities this ECU is capable of.

Has anyone else has an issue with Norton 360 flagging and removing the Open Flash Manager setup executable (SetupOF_Manager.exe)? Norton reports that the file has been identified by a number of users as untrustworthy, although I find this hard to believe. I figured out a workaround and installed it anyway, but still...strange...

Thanks for reading and linking one of my old posts

If I were to sit down and write a new post about the Drive by wire system I would simply say to read the articles on romraider forum about tuning drive by wire, as that is where i got most of my information aside from trial and error. Also I would start out by explaining that the requested torque system is based on the stock torque curve and a percentage of torque requested based on throttle position.

In other words don't think of 20% accelerator pedal as requesting 20% throttle plate angle, but rather 20% of maximum torque, that is why the tables have the peaks and valley's in them that resemble the stock torque curve.

here is another good thread with links to the romraider posts and possibly some more up to date / correct info than my first post on the subject.

Yeah Norton doesn't like it on my computer either. It is a pain in the ass.
