Did my install today- this thread was AMAZING in it's instruction. Not that tree was much to it, but you've left nothing to question. Excellent bro.

This would be great if that lower dust boot wasn't such a bitch. I'm still trying to get it off and now it's got a giant tear on the top of it. Wonderful.

My SS came with 2 thin black rubber O-rings, but this DIY does not describe where to install them. Does anyone know where exactly they're supposed to go?

Just installed mine today. Your instructions facilitated a straight forward installation. Taking my time it was 90 min. could be done in 45-60. Makes more of a difference than I expected. Installed shifter only. Shifter bushing and trany mount insert next. I would rate it as a must do. Excellent service from Kartboy.

You'll only need to unscrew one bolt for the mount bushing, but you'll need to use your jack after you get the car up on 4 jack stands to relieve the weight on the transmission mount when you replace that bushing. The rear bushing is a bit more of a pain in the arse to put in b/c it's firmer than OEM, and there's not much room for your hands AND the bushing up in the tunnel.

Just installed today! Great DIY, I would add a few things, when mentioning reinstall you forgot to mention to replace the foam layer after the metal bracket, almost forgot it because I was following your DIY a to a T. I was confused to about which way to install it the shifter also. You show in the picture to face the yellow tag towards you when locking the shift pin in. It turns out I struggled to install because that's backwards. I had to face it away from me to get any gear to go in.
I also had the big issue with 2nd gear going in, and someone had mentioned sliding the locking plate all the way left, and I found that makes the 2nd gear shift worse. Since 1st to 2nd is downward and slightly to the right. I had to slide the locking plates bottom two screws to the right a bit. Top two screws were all the way left but the bottoms I left halfway. This creates a straight line for the throw from 1st to 2nd. Down and slightly to the right. I was completely struggling with 2nd gear an hour ago and now it's fixed nothing blocking or struggle to find it. I'll post pics of my locking plate later. I apologize if someone had already mentioned this, I couldnt read through it all. Hope this helps some people! Thanks for the DIY it was wonderful! |
