Wassup y'al.l I wrote this over on another post, but it's generally fits both these topics (OFT AND HEADERS). I've been debating whether or not to get the OFT and some headers to complete my car mods (for now lol). I've got a TAKEDA INTAKE, PERRIN FRONT PIPE, PERRIN OVER PIPE, and PERRIN NON-RESSONATED CATBACK. All 2.5". But lately I've been hearing many problems from people and their Stage 2 93 octane tune. I've been looking at two headers; OFH and FT86Speedfactory headers w/ cat (to maybe help my car not throw a CEL. What would y'all recommend? High flow catted header? Catless? Should I hold off until this dilemma with the CELs on stg2 get worked on or? ... Hope to get some input. Thanks

I've had this header for about 2500 miles now, and as of late I have felt like my car has lost quite a bit of power. Reminds me of when my last car ended up with a clogged cat, no check engine, but it had lost considerable amount of power.
I'll be mounting the stock header when I get some time to see if its the header, or if something is off with the engine. |

I have intake, almost full exhaust, running an OFT tune. If I put on the header and get it tuned and the P0420 code keeps coming up, will it cause the secondary O2 sensor or anything else to go bad? Has anyone else gotten this issue with the FT86SF catted UEL, specifically?

I'm too lazy to read this entire thread, please forgive me :p
Why go catted? When you can go uncatted. Regardless its still illegal in Cali due to emission laws. So what are the advantages? Quieter while maintaining similar gains?

I've had my FT86SF header for 5,500 miles without any issues. Both spirited driving and long road trips. System: K&N Drop in, Perrin inlet tube, FT86 SF header, Motiv over pipe, Motiv catted front pipe, Greddy SP Elite axleback. Not as "Free flowing" as some people's system, so maybe that's why I haven't had issues. Was also really careful with the O2 sensors on install. |

For what it's worth, OFH is only a 1 year warranty. FT86SF is lifetime. Obviously I'm going to be pretty biased since I already purchased this and haven't had any issues. |

However afaik you aren't tied down to selecting OFH, I believe there tunes are compatible with other headers including this one. I'm gonna be getting an OFT before headers because I know I want a good tune.

I may get OFT after all and see how it feels on this header. Seems like people have had pretty good luck so far. Unfortunately, I spent my car budget on a brake upgrade during the black friday stuff, so I'm not even considered getting a tune at this point.

People with this header + OFT should gather up and share the info such as data logs, any issue, experience and etc. I also hope ft86sf offer optimized tune for this header with OFT since they sell oft and also is tuner. I know it most likely will not happen because oft tune is open source, but at least optimized tune will only be used for people who already bought the header.

So after reading all these good things about the OFT I am now thinking about getting one.
Just want to know two things. 1. Can you disable the secondary O2 sensor with the OFT to rid of the P0420 code? 2. If so, will this allow me to pass inspection. Basically when they plug into the OBD2 port for the inspection, it wont read as if the ECU is in open loop (I think thats what it is called) like I just reset my ECU to turn off a CEL. |
