Proposed new way to compare turbo setup performance

Seeing as dynos are not an accurate way of comparison, and 1/4 mile times are largely direct skill dependant. I propose we start a thread that contains videos of rolling start power pulls in a certain gear. We can then time the time it takes from one point to the next.

Some specifics off the top of my head..
4th gear. (5th maybe too fast for some, 3rd may have traction issues)
Cruise at 2500rpm in that gear. Then foot down. Take it to 7000 or redline.
We can then examine times taken from say 3000-7000; 3500-7000; 4000-7000; 4500-7000.
Could summarise these times into the first post, sort of as a leader board?
While I think there's more to a turbo setup than highway pull results, these videos and particular the times measurements over different rev ranges will give a real feel as to the performance and the driveability of a certain setup.

Could take it as far as having to post a video that shows a run in either direction on the same road?

The thread will be kept to results only, eg no video no post. It keeps it tidy. Similar to the FI dyno thread, which only seems to have a third of all dynos out there in it.

This thread here isn't to post the results, rather to discuss the feasibility, demand, and parameters of the way the results are provided and collected.

Thoughts?

A slipping clutch is an advantage for this style of performance measurement! haha.

Interesting concept nonetheless, though 2500-red in fourth is pretty considerable speed (not sure off the top of my head, but what speeds are our cars hitting at 7k in 4th (assuming stock wheel/tire/gear)? Speaking of, those are also some variables that will effect results.

we should do 50-100 times, or something similar. Most gtr guys compare 60-130 times.

Most platforms do 60-130.

Top of fourth is just over 100mph for me. I have friends with VBoxes so I can snag some logs.

I have a vbox somewhere in the garage. Once I get I'll be up for the normal 60-130.

Hopefully kph.

However, many a dumb asses will take it as mph on a public road.

I can imagine how it would go explaining to the state trooper, if you're lucky, that I was doing a 60-130mph pull on a public road for the sake of web forum comparison.

No he means mph. The equivalent in kph is the standard 100-200 pull.

The top of fourth is around 110 give or take a few mph.

It's standard to double the posted highway speed limit on public roads? That is a profound level of stupid. From the very heart of my bottom, you and anyone else that does this can go fuck yourself.

We shouldn't be comparing hp on the street either. I ment that for the track. I think anything slower is traction dependant. I can spin on the highway as is.
