Come on man, get with the times, let's get some suggestions on Android head units that play cassettes. If I can stream Netflix in my car, I at least want to be able to listen to my MC Hammer tapes.

But seriously, why would you do this? If quality is your concern, buy a large thumb drive and rip your CDs to fully lossless format.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but if not... you do realize you can get The Who in digital format right? Or, if you really want, you can hook up your 8-track to your computer and take in the audio in lossless format. Or you could just go full hipster and buy one of these:

Well I'd prefer to just use my reel-to-reel but the backseat of the BRZ is too small.

What need is there to root it? You just looking for the other Bluetooth profiles that support Internet tethering?

That'd be one, another would be the ability to use a different launcher, and possibly repurpose the radio button on the unit to open another app (poweramp, for example)

I do that anyway, but sometimes I'll buy a CD at best buy or something and then want to listen to it on the way home. Not having one isn't a deal breaker, but it's convenient at times.

Also tweak the build.props file so that more apps in the Play Store are recognized as compatible (PowerAmp) instead of having to side load them.

I'd really like to be able to activate the Google Now voice search thing with a hardware button (pushing the Seek knob is my initial thought).

Fair enough, I can see the interest for those reasons.

I prefer a physical copy of my music, not a digital copy.

This is how I used to think when the iTunes store first came out. Then I realized it's safer and more convenient to have digital copies since the only real difference if you're not ripping in FLAC is the music is being stored on a physical spinning disk or physical flash chip in your computer instead of on a physical compact disc. Either way it's just a copy of the music on different storage. Seems the latter has a bigger chance of getting lost or scratched beyond repair, also.
