The funny part of this. My dealership exact words were: " as far as modifying the vehicle and keeping your warranty allows you to do an intake and exhaust." So I replied with, "when you say exhaust you mean a full exhaust?" And he came back with "everything but the header. The header has to remain factory".

I laughed needless to say...

This doesn't make any sense. As long as the vehicle functions the same, you would think this would not VOID the warranty...

That's how I feel. But they specifically said I can do a full exhaust minus the header.

Finance and mod as I pay the loan off each month I slowly save up a small nest egg just for mods but only after everything else is budgeted like bills food etc etc.

I am currently trying to save up for that HKS Hi Power spec L exhaust with the titanium burned blue tips its like about 1000-1400 give or take but I am slowly saving up for it.......

Just for clarification, mfgr's and or dealers cannot "void the warranty". Google Moss-Magnussen Act.

They can, however, deny specific claims if they can prove the claimed problem was caused by a non-oem part, or a modification.

I'm financing. Learning from this site as to future mods. Taking it slow. Very wary about making any mods that will invalidate the warranty and don't see any reason to mod the suspension until better tires are in place. Would like to track it so brakes and tires might by necessity come soon after that.

Good to hear of another fellow 86er wanting to track. I read a recent thread on here where someone just did their first track day and I was surprised that they thought the suspension may need to be better upgraded, etc. to be more track ready. They said the suspension upgrades would help the car not feel so abused or something...possibly a little body roll? Don't quote me on this. I will link the thread if I can find it again...

Thanks Chad86. To tell the truth though here where I live there are mountain passes. Which conveniently have passing lanes where even grannies in there Prius's speed up to 80mph. At those speeds in sweeping corners I had the impression that the car could at least use stiffer sway bars. See how easy rationalizing upgrades is. Scary.
