2.5" is about a pound heavier, 3" is a bit more.

Thinking of going Perrin 3" resonated with OFHeader and OFTune

Thoughts?

That's a disappointment. I originally looked at a Perrin 2.5 resonated since it's subtle and made in the USA. I may have to look elsewhere.

D-Sport weighed the 2.5" Perrin exhausts in their shootout. The 2.5" resonated is ~5 lbs lighter than stock. The 2.5" non-resonated is ~10 lbs lighter than stock.

Don't get the 3", it will be WAY to loud. Trust me, get the 2.5", you and your neighbors will be much happier in the end. I've been seriously considering trying to sell or trade my full 3" perrin resonated exhaust with someone who has the 2.5" and wants/doesn't mind the loudness. Its just obnoxiously loud

I want something fairly loud, so the car sounds a bit racecar like...but not obnoxious!

For the 2.5 would you still go resonated?

I guess it's all comes down to your sensitivity to sounds. I have the Perrin Overpipe, Perrin 3" Front Pipe, and Perrin 3" Catback and I think perfect. It's not too loud over stock. And when your cruising, its noticeable but doesn't drone. It has a mellow tone to it. If you keep the stock front pipe, it should help with the volume.

Is yours resonated? I thought about going this route and getting the Perrin Header, but for the Open Flash Tablet tune, would it be better to get the Open Flash Header???

Yes, mine is resonated. A good representation sound wise would be this [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9jGtvmtflA"]Perrin Performance Over Pipe and Front Pipe - Unboxing, Install and Review - 2013 Subaru BRZ - YouTube[/ame] The guy in the video has the 2.5" system all the way back. Now imagine that sound but a bit louder. I believe Perrin didn't go through with their header for the BRZ. I believe it's because of replacing the stock cats isn't legal in any state.

That's all fine and dandy with a header back exhaust, but the second you replace the header like the @Chad86 intends with a catless header, the volume gets turned up to 11.

@Chad86, a resonated 2.5" with the OFH like you intend will be plenty loud. Honestly, you should just start with a header and see how you like the volume from there as a catless header adds quite a bit of volume on its own. A catback exhaust does almost nothing for performance when you are NA and only adds volume. The last thing you want is to replace more than you need to get the sound you want and end up with something that is louder than you want and also be out $1000+

I have the 3" version and pIan to go FI. Was the sound ok until you added the header? I'm trying to gauge what you consider to be acceptable loudness. I'm happy with mine so far.

Not sure because I did my Borla UEL, Perrin overpipe, Perrin 3" Frontpipe, and Perrin 3" resonated catback all at the same time. Its pretty loud and even with the resonator, raspy. People seem fine with their CBE's until they get a catless header as removing that first cat seems to have a huge effect on the volume of the exhaust... so much so that people are perfectly happy with the volume increase just from the header and no CBE.

From reading what shiv has to say about exhaust restrictions, he seems to think that anything under 350hp a 2.5" is fine.
