The Toyota commercials for middle aged men are so much better.

I'm not a fan of the marketing department over at Toyobaru...another user posted this commercial on a comment I made about "when was the last time you saw a commercial" and I finally saw it last night on TV. What ticks me about this whole concept is that the Forte Koup has a more performance based commercial, the average watcher will learn NOTHING about this car from the commercial except that it looks "sporty" and its base price. Also why wait until the 86 are piled up in inventory before running a lame commercial? This could have run for the last year! Also I noticed fifth gear is obsessively re-running the BRZ Isle of Mann epi so I'll assume Subaru is paying for it.

FWIW...the car does make everything epic...I got 3 shout outs during today's commute. *2 cents*

Added: it's apparently a commercial that's supposed to generate social media buzz www.scion.com/social/epicfrs

Am I the only one that enjoys this commercial?
It is light, entertaining, and it sticks with people. The whole point of a commercial is that you REMEMBER it, not that it has a meaningful message. So that when you do go shopping that item might stick in your head and you research it further, from paper towels to insurance, to cars.

To be honest this is what is great about the car, even a regular trip to the grocery store
can be epic.

I'm more interested in this movie theater with valet parking.

But I also do love hearing people talk about my car.

Wow, this commercial is pretty funny. Its short, un-realistic, and pretty much to the point. Have you guys ever thought that maybe there aren't enough "enthusiasts" picking up the car, and so they need to cater to "normal" people?(or, I dont know, maybe toyota/scion wants to just sell more cars?)

God forbid a "normal"/non-car person buy this car! A "normal" person doesn't care about drifting through a forest of unicorns with leaves raining down all around with the epic sound of our engine roaring in the hills, as the driver grabs another gear and continues to drift around every corner. That kind of commercial(well, most parts of it lol) are meant for "US", because, as car people, we get it; that sort of thing appeals to us-that is what fuels our love for this car.

A "normal" person wants a car that is "cool looking", "neat" or "epic" and gets comments from their other "normal" friends when they pull up to meet for lunch. They don't care about Keiichi Tsuchiya, or drifting, or 86-or even what "86" means to this platform. They just want a cool car.

They want to be like us.

Then they proceed to inundate the dealerships with demands for more "normal people" crap like sunroofs and infotainment centers and powered seats and other heavy amenities that will make the car "better", eventually ruining it. It's happened before.

maybe. How long has the TC been out, and it doesnt have infotainment centers or powered seats...well, yet haha.

Sunroof, sure, but thats not as bad...although it adds weight, and its up high.

But I see what you mean.

Historically Toyota and even Scion's sold on there own, impeccable reliability and reputation is what sells cars not cheap advertisements.
