I don't get why everyone keeps thinking that this car was gonna be fastest thing on the road. From day one, everyone pretty much knew that it wasn't going to be.
Honestly if you are just looking for power and straight line speed, the brz/frs is not for you. |

Given the spec sheet that has been available for months now, how is anyone still outraged by the performance?

What are the point of these threads? to have like 2 people agree with your for personal preference and 2000 totally cyber bully you?
Instead of complaining, you could of used that time to search for another car that can help you merge to the freeway a lot faster. /thread

test drive the cars... but REALLY test drive them. Look up Main Street in Motion, or other manufacturer offered events. They let you drive various cars on tracks and courses (Ford had some crazy ones: 20 ft summits, 45% angle pits, bumps, AND then tarmac curves).
Point is more power doesn't mean more fun. I said Main Street in Motion because that's the last one I did in 2011. Besides a lot of SUVs, the sports cars they had were Camaro's, Challengers, and Chargers. Great cars. Fast on straightaway. Yet they lacked something. They felt heavy and they weren't fun. And IMO, the interior was kinda lacking also. I had more fun driving the SUVs around sharp turns at 40-50mph (just ignore the 20mph signs and angry waving volunteers). On side note, my wife and her friend had a blast in these cars... I was kinda snoring around the corners... Those buying the FR-S and BRZ have been waiting for this type of car forever... the cars recently haven't been up to par, besides a handful. Really disappointed with Toyota and Honda (and I'm a die-hard Honda fan). |

First of all, you should be comparing it to a V6 Premium coupe, because the BRZ is going to be loaded at $28k. Pricing on that trim (in my area of New England, with navigation and heated seats added, to compare apples to apples) is $29,885 before destination. Second of all, the BRZ is to the Mustang what the Boxster is to the Corvette: NOT the same! Two cars with two completely different purposes.
Honestly, I'm glad the Mustang is such a good car, even in V6 trim! It's about flipping time America started building sporty cars that don't suck. But the interior styling (where I will be spending most of my time) makes me want to barf (except for the factory Recaro option - that's pretty sweet). And until they change to independent rear suspension in a couple years, I will not consider them no matter how good they can mess with the live axle setup to make it handle.

Sigh... I don't want another big, heavy car. I don't want a car that wallows though corners or can't keep it's rocker panels off the road. I don't want a car that feels like it will take an act of god to turn the nose. I don't want to feel like I'm driving a WWII bunker around. I want a car that feels like it's a part of me, not the other way around.
The Mustang and GC are not even close to what I want. Not even on the same planet. Which is why I find a lot of these comparisons absurd. Power was NEVER what this car was about. If the average power/weight ratio of the BRZ is enough to make you look elsewhere, then it might be best if you do. |

Driver-Car-Road connection cannot be fully quantified, which leaves only numbers to compare to other similar vehicles. This is why we have threads like this. For those people who are asking "why" isn't their fault. They wouldn't be asking those questions if we didn't have such a time gap between now and the last great affordable drivers car.

My first post- go easy
Last night I got a chance to sit in the BRZ in Seattle- WOW Fits like a glove! BUT---- 7.2 0 to 60? Not good! Now I will have to wait to see what the Hyundai Veloster turbo 0 to 60 is. I have a uphill road ahead to sell a 2 seater to the wife. I have to sell my Kawasaki Concours 1400 first. I am so tired of freezing my A** off up here in the Pacific Northwest. The BRZ is Fantastic! Details fit and finish tops! Jwhit |

Don't waste your time on the Veloster, everyone I've talked to said it's shit. It's not a sports car, just an econobox sheep in wolf's clothing.

I think it was because the testers shifted to 3rd, not sure if it was out of gearing or if they just didn't know what they were doing.
