I would love to see a review of this car with stickier tires. I could easily see >1g on stock suspension and supercar like stopping numbers. If you watch the video it is clear that the tires are the limiting factor in these tests. Not that I'm complaining, though, I think the choice to go with less sticky tires will make it more fun to drive, but you can see this chassis has tremendous potential.

I guarantee that anybody on this forum who keeps defending how slow this car is, has plans to spend gobs of cash to make this car MUCH faster.

Some of us would rather not have to spend an additional $5k to make an already expensive car fast. That's supposed to be the purpose of spending the big money to begin with.
Why would I dump tons of cash into this car just to make it go quicker in a straight line?? What possible reason would there be? I would like to know. If I gave two cares about straight line performance, I wouldn't be here in this forum talking about the BRZ.

It just blows my mind how people think a car MUST be OMG powerful and fast from a stoplight to be worthwhile, and then come to a BRZ forum. I mean, really. That would be like me going to a GTR forum and complaining that I can't fit my couch in the trunk.

Wow.. 5K for engine mods off the bat. Yeah, I'm really here to go DRAG RACING with my BRZ. :eyeroll:

Seems like all the reviews of the car are only testing the manual version. I would love to see a comparison between the manual and the automatic. I want to know how big the penalty is on the different gearing and how much the automatic affects the driving experience.

Since we are making grand generalizations, I'll guarantee you're one of those guys on the forum that's never driven a car that is just pure fun to drive corner to corner in the mountains without having to stay in second gear and burning up the brakes, or have never driven anything like a MK1 MR2, or a MG Midget, or a original Datsun Z.

If I wanted more straightline speed, I'd buy a car with it baked in. I can guarantee you I will not spend one extra penny to make mine faster, and I'll smile every time I get in it.

(DISCLAIMER: No offense intended, but its hard to write this without sounding like I'm flaming, I'm really not, you are welcome to your opinion.

Yes that assumes it drives like I expect, and all the current reviews are accurate.)

I knew this car wasn't going to be that quick, but eh, that's too slow of a car for my tastes. BUT, I am sure it is going to be a fun car to drive. I just don't know if I would like SUV's beating me light to light while trying..

That would actually be a disadvantage for the Mustang - with deceleration weight shifts forward, so if you already have 65% of the weight over the front wheels and then brake hard that number moves considerably higher, meaning the front contact patches are doing much more of the braking work than the back patches. Consequently the back wheels are far more likely to lock up at the same braking force levels (all else being equal) than if there is a 50/50 weight distribution under braking. This tendency results in longer stopping distances - 2 patches are in a sense trying to do the work of 4. Thus you find that Porsches with their rear weight bias can typically outbrake other car makes in road race series.

That's just a track test, not a review

I previously owned a 97 Nissan 240SX with full track suspension (coilovers and plenty more, I can't remember now because this was 5 years ago and the previous owner did the suspension work). But that car handled amazingly, probably better than a BRZ. It also had a stock motor, which put down 155hp. So yes the car had an amazing suspension and was fun to drive... for about 2 months of ownership. And then I got bored with its slowness.

I've driven several Corvettes as well, including 2 Z06's, and would own one if it fit my current lifestyle. I can't even imagine wanting to own one if it had a lousy 200hp engine. You can use the suspension and weight argument all you want, but if you think a 3,400 pound corvette with 405hp is NOT fun to drive well than you're just oblivious.
