Either way it looks like I'll have only one car when the FR-S is out so it'll be daily. Now the question is will I be able to hold off until then.
the saturn can't be fixed/band-aided for <1k? what happened to it? It might be worth looking into a temporary fix, i doubt the 86 is any more than 60 days away at this point

No it cannot. It seems like I got a leak either last night or a few days back and on my rush this morning, thinking I had enough oil to change it later in the day, it killed my engine by quickly running dry. Valuable lesson learned. After three different evaluations, my car Jenny has officially been called dead, and now I need to figure out what to do with it. I looked on CL for a 1k car but didn't have any luck. I'm not sure if I should scrap it to get some money for the parts or if I should keep it and rebuild it in the future. Either way I'm thinking I may just ride a bicycle until he 86 is out. If Scion doesn't tell us the release date on our LB Trip, I'm gonna have to force it out of Jack, or else they might lose a client and I'll have to go with something else currently available and just get this car a few years down the line.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you can buy a little more expensive "bridge" car and then sell it in a couple of months for about the same, or at least within the $1000 you were looking to spend. I've done that before.

A bike is certainly your cheapest option, and the health benefits will be a nice bonus. I went without a car for a month once. It was winter in Ohio, so I basically had to get a ride from someone if I wanted to go anywhere. I don't think it will be as bad for you this time of year, and in California. You can do it, hang in there!

This may work too if you can't find a $50 truck.

Do you work for a company with a corporate account with a car rental company? If so, many of the car rental places will waive the underage surcharge. I rented several cars while I was under 25 while traveling for work. It's a long shot, but may be worth investigating.

Did you look in the SF area on CL? Perhaps you could get a buddy to drive you down for a Saturday used car buying road trip adventure? There seem to be a lot of cars down there in the $800-$1200 range that maybe actually run.

I'm still in there... I've followed the car for too many years to just decide to get another car now. Honestly imo, I understand why people would want to drop oit, but it amazes me because if you love the car... Shouldn't you do your best to get it regardless of what goes on? If this car were priced 34.2k, I'd still buy it. I'm more upset about the .2 really because I can't just say 24k. :/

Why would you give up a no-obligation free trip?

Just go on the trip, drive it, and decide a couple days before delivery. They have to let you test drive YOUR car, so technically you could walk in, drive it and say no on the spot.

As I've said, I have no problem if that's what you want to do. I personally would not do it, its up to your personal ethics. If I were100% sure I was not buying the car because of price, I would not go.

I'm not going on the trip anyway due to military obligation. I haven't decided whether or not I'm getting the car. I'll decide after my test drive.

We are still in. Even if we are too big piggies short. I guess I'll give up the on the planed 5 speed up grade, for the spitfire. For this summer anyways. I really think that this is the kind of car that missy will love forever. It will be her's, if she wants it. M.C.
