I think a lot of times the calculators is so off because the torque band is so different in all cars. I won't be surprised if this car doesn't hit 0-60 in low 6's or high 5's. But if it came with 200hp/180tq with a flat torque curve then I can easily believe high 5's and low 6's. The civic Si gain a lot of low end torque with the same output and it is slightly quicker in numbers than the last gen. It also feels better during daily driving because of the added mid range.

GTI is also turbocharged and underrated, they really put down about 210whp to the wheels and much more torque all over the powerband.

If you look at the Geneva Photos thread (if it hasn't been said already, didn't read the 8 page thread) in one of the pictures it states 0-100 km/h time is 6.9 seconds. Roughly like 6.7-6.9 is expected for 0-60 mph then, but could be understated by toyota. Gotta wait for production to find out for sure :P

got an answer from toyta germany on facebook because we asked them about the different numbers from the german press release (0-100km/h in shocking 7.6 seconds with manual trans. vs. 6.9 seconds on the sign in geneva)
They said something like they know there is a lot of confusion going on. gt86, fr-s and brz will have different specs so there will be a difference between those (dont know what they mean, cant be only the weight, perhaps other gear ratio?). They say its not a typo, 7.6 seconds is kind of the right number, but still waiting for homogolation tests I´m still pretty sure 0-100km/h will be around 7 seconds. Doesnt matter whats on the salespaper.

0-100mkh likely requires an extra shift + 0.3-0.4s to accelerate from 60mph to 100kmh.
So I expect 6.2-6.4 for us spec cars. 6.0 for motortrend test, lol. |
