Hello there!

I just bought H&R Super Sport springs and I'll be putting them on my car in the next few days. I think the drop is somewhere between 1"-1.5" though I haven't been able to find a nailed down number.

The wheels I was thinking of going with are 18x8.5et44 (square) and a 225/40/18 tire (I would like consider a 10mm spacer in the rear to help move the wheel out a bit). I see some people saying that this tire size on this wheel size will look a bit stretched. I'm not a super fan of some stretched tires but it seems like 235 tires aren't that common.

My first question is: will this setup fit (and/or will it possibly rub?)? My second question is, are there any examples of 225/40/18 tires on 18x8.5 wheels so I can see how the sidewall sits?

Edit: I also some people saying that it won't look stretched at this size depending on the tire brand. Does anyone have examples of tire brands that do run wider or narrower so I know what to look for?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

I have a question too if you guys don't mind.

I'm planning on getting Airlift Performance Suspension (Link: http://ft86speedfactory.com/air-lift...sion-1138.html ), and I'm trying to rock these 18x9.5 +45 (Link: http://ft86speedfactory.com/enkei-hs...et-of-661.html ).

They should be the same size as coils but i don't want to rub because I don't want to ruin the airbag. I'm thinking a 245/35/18 or 225/40/18.

Any suggestions? I'm sure it will fit, but i'm curious about what you guys think. the +45 offset makes me think that it's going to push the wheel toward the airbag more, so if i got a lower offset, say +35 or so on, will that help?

Thanks guys.

- Justin.

Well, "streched" depends on your view, and what you consider streched. I have some 225 tires on 8.5 wheels on my supra
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22923
I think its streched, and my next set of tires will be 245 because of that. Most of my friends however think its perfect like this and it does not look streched.
Also, like you said, it may also depend a bit on your tirechoice, but in the end in my eyes 225 on 8.5 will always be a bit streched.
You may think about 245/35/18, they are quiet common and look good on a 8.5 wheel.

Thanks for the reply and information! Do you know if that wheel/tire size will fit while lowered on H&R Super Sport springs? And if not, where will it be rubbing?

I know for sure that 18x8.5 Offset between +35 and +40 will fit and will be flush/poking 3-5mm depending on your camber setup. Tires I'd suggest 245/35/18. You "may" also mount something up to +45 offset, however this is very tight with the inner struits in the front so it may rub.

The tires will be streched abit, you may want to think about 245/35/18 if you rather want a flush sitting tire on your wheels.

Also note that it will ad a bit "offroad" look to the car, so you may want to think about lowering it 1" or so. (wider wheels will add to the stock offroad look even more)
I believe the offset is 42. Will that be ok?

That is quiet tight in the front and may rub with the inner struits. worst case you still could use some spacers in the front if it really should rub. But I've seen some setups in this forum like that and they say it did not rub.
We are talking about 2-3mm difference between rubbing or not, so its hard to say and does also depend a bit on the tire brand (as their wide does differ even in the same sizes)
If you want to play it safe, try to get a +35 offset, however a +42 should most probably be fine aswell.

235/40/18 why not a 255/35/18? Just curious on this size not many doing this ...?

Ah I made that post a long time ago before we really "knew" fitment for these cars.

My current opinion now that I have had 18x9.5 +40 on my car for a long time, I would do at least 255 rear and at least 245 in the front, maybe 255 if you are not slammed.

Hi,

I think your calculator is awesome but I have never used one so I don't know how to get the numbers I'm looking for:

"C" dimension = measured from outside planar surface of stock fender ~to~ the mounting surface of the wheels considering stock/OEM front and rear fenders?

Also What would be an "average C" dimension when using wide body rear fenders?

I have someone who manufactures a 2pc wheel and I need these overall dimension so that he can make the rim portion the correct width.

Thank you for any help!

THIS!!!

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=127

So I am looking at the XXR 527 wheels. I'm dropped 1" and the only sizes I can find for the color I want is a 17x8.25 with a 25mm and 35mm OR 18x8.75 with a 20mm and 35mm offset. I tried reading thru the forums as not to cloud up anything... but am at work and hard to read everything... curious to get close to flush but no damage or rubbing. What would be the best?

Here is a link to what I found...Thank you in advance!
