I don't get this...I'm not sure what the heck is going on.... but this is a pretty bad pre launch or launch in a way( not sure how far in the process we are....only know it's been a long wait). It's almost as bad as the EVO 8,9 and 10 @__@

In the end, it will all work out...

that is hilarious. I know dealers will sometimes tell lies, but that is just too blatant. There is no way every dealer will have 2

[QUOTE=Zaku;144270]Simply it's not the American way. Americans want packages and loaded cars. QUOTE]

I've never understood this. There are that many people out their who really use everything in their fully loaded cars all the time? Buying a car for me would be a lot easier if I could just pick and choose what options i wanted

Bidding wars...really? This is sad. If we as a collective submit to these substandard business practices then we deserve be treated like frantic, irrational consumers. Any dealership that chose to do business in this manner would never get my patronage.

I'm not trying to be a troll or get everyone fired up in the wrong way. My intent is to get everyone to stand their ground with their salesperson and make "them" work for your purchase. Bid a penny at a time until the sales guy loses his mind. Work with the other guy who is bidding for the same purchase spot so you can sync the plan before going into the dealership. I know its far fetched but man it sure would be funny to watch.

Damn, this is a BIG TRAP.
people who are willing to put money down for a car that hasn't even advertised sales price means that they are willing to pay extra for that car. The dealers are gonna want to rape people with prices and this will just tell SOA that they can bump their planned price based on all the inpatient people.

on the other hand the world will end this year so I need to buy now!!!!
what to do???

The deposit is refundable. Dealers will only be hurting themselves if they price gouge the brz.

If dealers try this bait-and-switch crap, they better hope that walk-in customers want the colors and trim that the original customers wanted.

Its nice to see a new guy post in existing threads. For awhile I thought they made it a requirement to create a new thread about pre orders or trims for your first post.

Went by my dealer and looked at a BRZ tonight. They have one in..prepping it for an auto show and they have it on the showroom floor until the show starts. It is a black, 6MT Limited (the high trim level?) and it was beautiful. They let me sit in it and look around, but I could not start it or drive it, of course.

I asked about pricing and availability and he offered up pretty much what we saw in the beginning of this thread. The dealers are not yet sure if they are truly limited to ONLY the cars allotted, or if orders can be placed and the factory will make them, eventually, or what. This particular dealer has a waiting list 30 people long and is expecting 7 cars. That is going to lead to a lot of unhappy customers, particularly if it means little or no opportunity for a test drive.

We shall see what it looks like on Thursday.
