It is actually true. The BRZ probably has as much mechanical shared with the Impreza as the GC does to the Genesis sedan. Not sure why you have a problem with that. Sharing parts is what makes the cars affordable.

Me too. The transmission is something I am concerned about from reading about the previous model. Also the old 2.0T didn't have enough oomph for me, but the new engine should fix that.

Black or the dark gray look somewhat decent to me. Helps hide the front end. Just wish the hood was different.

Also appears that they are bringing the R Spec package to Canada for the '13, finally, so I can delete the sunroof and leather, etc... that they packaged in with the GT to get the LSD, Brembos, etc... with the old ones.

That should put it ~$27k here? Hoping the FR-S comes in ~$25k MAX.

If same price or +/- $500 of each other you still go with FRS?

I am not defending the GC. I am calling it like I see it. You are the one that's defending the FR-S. You damn well know both cars share the same amount of parts with a sedan counterpart. I have been following the FRS/GC before both went on sale so I heard everything that Subaru said that they did with the FRS/BRZ.

The GC and the sedan doesn't share the same interior, exterior, suspension tuning. But they share almost the same platform and V6 engine with different tunes. Doesn't all of that ring a bell with the FR-S?

If they'd focused on the 2.0T as a sports car instead of benchmarking the G with the V6 it would've probably met my expectations. (ie a little bit lighter and smaller, then maybe the suspension wouldn't need to be so harsh with the track pack, etc...)

It tries to hit two markets (not necessarily car classes) what the FR-S/BRZ is going after with the 2.0T and what the G37 is with the V6 (some of the paint schemes are very Infiniti), but focuses too much on the GT-side of the G37 for me.

Pending summer test drive of course. Going to go back to back, FR-S and GenCoupe 2.0T, same day I think. I've decided I can live with the new face in an all black car if the dynamics are improved, and the manual transmission is fixed.
I drove a track model on one of the worst roads for my test drive and I can tell you this much, it is greatly exaggerated by some testers. It's firm yes but which sports coupe isn't?

I'm here, favoring the Gen Coupe. I joined this site before they released the specs and production version of the FR-S/BRZ. A lot of us were hoping for something a little different, and many of us have still not made up our mind. We are torn between the two, but we are here to stay until we make our final decision.

Word. Not that hard to see this from an objective view point.

Was it tested on the nurburg? James May will say it is rubbish. Lol. But I agree part of a sports car is a firm suspension. You want comfort? Buy a BMW 7 series.

A Russian guy from Top Gear Russia drove a 3.8 Track Zf automatic and got a 8:26 seconds but said the tranny would've been better with the manual. The automatic overheats fast for track duty. He also said that he thought the car was going to be a POS and he ended up liking it.

That is fast. So new 3.8 manual will probably be closer to 8min flat? Like 8:05 to 8:10?

I don't think so. More like 8:20 he said in the video. The ring also had other cars on it at the time of the test.

You don't think they could knock off more than 6 seconds with new engine and manual transmission?

I think so. The GDI V6 has more power throughout the powerband and the manual gearbox is suppose to be better this time around. But I wonder about the extra added weight.

The more you post, the more I dislike you.

Obviously not. Did I say it was a direct competitor? Christ man.
