I'm getting a turbo kit soon, and I've been researching for a long time now. It seems Ecutek is the most used platform for tuning FI on our cars, but many say it's because it's the only one available right now.

Is the Open Flash product another alternative to Ecutek? Honestly, Ecutek scares me. My tuner hasn't used it yet, and also hasn't tuned an 86, much less a turboed one.

Will established 86 tuners like FB or FA86club be able to use your product remotely to tune my car if i GO that route?
It's my understanding that the data logging feature on the OFT doesn't work yet. That pretty much kills remote tuning at the moment. It will work in a future update though.

As for whether a tuner shop will support it or not depends entirely on them. I mean, TunerPro is completely free for consumers, it's not like there's any major financial hurdle they'd have to overcome to adopt it.

Yes on all accounts. Working on datalogging now. That will make remote tuning no different than doing so with ecutek. The major difference being that you aren't locked into one tuner and you can see/modify the maps yourself. And you'll also have a digital screen that will display data realtime. No need for laptop.

1) I received my OpenFlash Tablet FA20 for my Scion and downloaded the stock ROM into the tablet as shown on the video.

2) Then I followed the second video and uploaded the stock ROM into the OpenFlash Manager (OFM). It seems to have loaded successfully, however, it does not show the CAL or the VIN/SN. It does show "IDS_PRESENT" in the "Original File" window of the OFM.

3) As it does not show the CAL, I am unsure of what tune to download, however, I try to see if any of the tunes will upload into the "Modified #1" window.

4) As it happens, the only tune to successfully load is the "Stg 1 Stock Intake ZA1J700C.bin" tune (it showed the checksum box window as shown in the video). I tried to load the other tunes and they will not load.

5) Can Rombinhood@OpenFlash or @shiv@vishnu verify whether I did things right and what the next steps should be? Seems strange that it does not show the stock Calibration nor VIN or SN. See attached file.

Thanks!
I had the same issue. I ended up completely resetting the tablet (or clearing all data or whatever it was called.. don't have it here to look), then rereading my ECU and it worked. I think the first time you plug it in to the PC there is an update, but if you read your ECU before that you didn't get it.

Thanks man...I was getting a little worried. I also
read my stock ecu before I plugged it in for the auto updates.

How did you clear out your tablet of your stock tune to start all over again?

Thanks!

You do it in the manager software somewhere while it's plugged in to the computer. I don't have it with me here at work so I can't remember exactly, but it's one of the 6 or so buttons on the left.

Hi guys, just posted a little demo of datagraphing on our Facebook page. BMW tablet is in the video. But FA20 Tablet will do the same. Still in early beta form but it's good enough to get the idea.

Lol great . That was just a basic viability test to see how easy it was to read the graphical data since that has not yet been done with the OFT hardware. Turns out it's extremely clear. Even in direct sunlight. So what will be released will be a lot cooler. It will offer numerical data along with graphics, ability to freeze/unfreeze data by just touching the screen, a larger graphics area, etc.

I'm very happy with how this is turning out. I'm glad others are too!

I told myself when you guys came out with your product, "OK, this looks promising...I'll buy when it gets more analysis and data logging tools.". Then you go and post this... On my birthday. Wife can't get too angry cuz it's my bday lol.

Do you plan on adding performance logging features or virtual dyno to help with street tuning?
