in the design stage the Genesis coupe (BK) was benchmarked against the E46 M3. In fact the front suspension is practically off that one. body rigidity is 22k nm/deg..thats 2k short of a Lamborghini gallardo. a ~55/45 weight distribution, and for an big FR, no body can say that ain't decent. i could go on and on with other stuff like the fact that the 3.8 has oil squirters, brembo's (M4 mono-blocks by the way) stops in 110ft range, the stock torsen LSD...etc. about the weight, well it was designed to take on the mustang, camaro and G37, guess who's the lightest of the bunch? and for that reason i still say comparing the 86 to BK is misleading (at least technically). Its exactly like doing a 86 vs. Mustang V6 ...O_o! Again for that difference am getting my GT86 as soon as it gets here

![]() There is a lot of things that these GC "think-they-know-all" don't understand. The GC is more of a 300ZX/Toyota Supra car without a TwinTurbo 6 for a lot less cheaper. I laugh at the guy above saying it's a muscle car. ![]() A lot of these guys don't even know the inspiration for the GC had nothing to do with American muscle. It had to do with the e46 M3 and other Japanese GT Sports cars. You can tell by the seats and the seating position. It's low and hunkered down. Look what Motortrend had to say about the GC vs the V6 Muscle/Pony coupes. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...e/viewall.html 1st place: Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Track The only one that looks and feels like a sports car. Surprise, we liked it best. |

It all depends on the drivers. I know some guys who get 27-30 mpg with the automatic v6 but they drive more sensible. And other guys who drive like lunatics get low 20's hwy.

I'm amazed that people here are putting down the genesis for having a "cheap interior".
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If that looks too cheap for you, then you should probably start saving for a BMW M5 or something since nothing in this price range of 20-30k will satisfy you. You can't really say the GC or FR-Z/BR-Z are better or worse than each other. The GC is a GT type car, made to compete with the likes of G37 and BMW 3 series. The FR-Z/BR-Z is more of a pure sports car with obviously little attention given to interior comforts. It's all about the driving experience. I don't like the looks of the new 2013 genesis coupe (though it looks decent in dark colors), but I'm expecting a much nicer car than the older GC. The suspension has been tweaked to accommodate the new engines, it is firmer and sportier. The transmissions have also been reworked, Hyundai has promised better clutch feel and smoother and more rewarding shifting for the manual transmission. The gearing has also been made more aggressive for better acceleration. The old traction control system has been replaced in the 2013 with a 3 stage one that is more advanced. The only thing that I don't really like is the rear 245 tires are probably too skinny for 248HP/296ft-lbs of torque. In any case, considering you can probably pick up that top of the line, fully loaded genesis coupe for under 30k, its quite a lot for the money if you are in the market for a GT car. |

Yeah that interior looks a bit more upscale. It's actually not bad for a base 23k RWD 2.0t sports coupe.

That GC looks a sleek looking ride. Interestingly, the dash and the whole interior seem in many ways a puffed up "3D" version of the flat and dimensionless "2D" look of the FR-Z/BRZ interior. The Toybaru interior has flat slabs and sharp corners/edges... the GC's has 'depth' to items with design elements that come out from the dash, flow and join together in some harmony, rather than looking like they are only there beacuse they have to be.
That comes from a couple likely culprits - perhaps the Toybaru need to cheap out and keep the costs down, and the unavoidable fact that the Toybaru simply has so much less front-to-rear space to design in as it's a much smaller car. There simply isn't the room to design in 'pretty and flowing' with the dash, doors, and back seats areas. No one is going to feel in the lap of luxury in either, but the GC certainly puts on a better face. |

I don't like the instrument cluster, I don't like the pedals, and I don't like the way the gear shift lever looks. But, that's just me I guess. It does look fancy, just not my cup of tea. I would like to have those steering wheel audio controls on my FR-S!

I honestly think some of you guys are blind... the 2013 GC interior is far nicer than the FRS or BRZ interior. I'd still rather get an FRS but both cars are very compelling for different reasons and so my purchase is strictly based on price.

One is a Gran Tourer (GC) FR-S/BRZ is focused on being the sport in sports car. It's pretty much that simple. It's like comparing a GSXR 750 to a Touring bike with radio headset and saddle bags. |

Not Gran touring bike like this: ![]() But Gran Touring bike like this ![]() That's what I think about when I see the exterior of the GC and then taking a look at the interior. The interior looks like it belongs in something like a Maxima. |

One is GT Sports car and the other one is a Sports car. And the only reason the GC is a GT Sports car is because it offers more content and is mid sized which adds weight. The FRS/BRZ is pretty much a small version of a GC if you think about it. The BRZ Limited has all the features of the GC GrandTouring model except for the sunroof and the extra 600 lbs of being bigger. I like the idea of both cars but I wouldn't call the GC a straight up GT like a Lexus SC430.

Ok, I do know what you guys are saying when you say "sports" car, but let's not get too liberal here. Niether the GC or the FRS/BRZ are sports cars. They are "sporty" cars, but definitely not sports cars by definition. I just thought I'd throw that in there...

It feels like a entry level luxury car inside. Definitely more upscale than FRS ever will be. But GC is bigger and heavier. It is too big for my preference. accord coupe felt like a space ship. LOL.
