Imo....

If I want a nice DD and need to carry 4 people comfortably, get to the Grocery store pushing the audio controls from my steering wheel to switch radio stations...I would buy a G35. People who like the exterior of the GC can add that to their buying choice for the same reasons I listed just now.

But..

If I want a lightweight rwd coupe to take to the AutoX or track days, then I think a G35 and or a GC are on the wrong end of the spectrum due to their weight. Can they both handle fine, sure. A 350z is a good handling track car as well, but I value lightweight over power. If you are 600lbs lighter than the competition, you don't need to pack the same hp to overcome the competition.

I'm in no need of having a full sized adult climb in the back, like the looks of the FR-S and even the BRZ over the GC. GC is overweight but does not have the same power as the likes of the 350z which turns me off from it. I like the small form factor of the FR-S/BRZ and understand the value of driving a slower car fast rather than driving a faster car slower...

Im glad that I like sports coupe of all sizes except for the large ones like a challenger. I can drive very small,small,and medium sized coupe.

Problem is....the G37 or 335 coupe are 300+hp.
That's why 3.8 is a cheaper alternative. And the 2013 will have over 340 Hp. And 0-60 in low 5's.

Agreed, I just wish the affordable FR market didn't solely consist of medium and above. Hopefully the 86 will inspire some competition.

Its funny you say that and you own a e92 ///M3. Im not coming at you in a messed up way. I just observe.

Also when I drive my slow car fast it isn't mind blowing to me. But when I drove a GC 3.8 to 70% I fell in love. Different strokes I guess.

The FR-S weights much less, yes. The GC weighs much more, yes.

I'm a power hungry fellow, and I don't want to have trouble keeping up with kids in their grandparent's Cadillac. Not implying that in an illegal street racing sense, it's just the concept of the thought itself. The FR-S will be considered weak and will struggle performance wise in the straights. BUT IT WILL BE LIGHT AND NIMBLE... yes... yes we get it.

I like the FR-S, and I might get one. But my point is that we have no idea how much it's going to cost. I've heard a few people suggesting $28,000 over the past few days. That sucks! And it would not be worth paying that when you could get a 348hp car for $2k cheaper! (if going by current GC prices)

The FR-S will be great if the price is right.

+1000 although I think its safe to say $28,000 is extremely unlikely... Even for the BRZ

I agree and think that the GC will still be better value than the 86 for those number crunching and power hungry folks.

Really if being power hungry is your game, theres no better car on the market right now that the Mustang. The v6 and the GT models.


I feel like subaru neutered this car so as it wouldn't cut into the wrx and sti sales. It only makes sense. If they wanted to, they could have gave it 300hp easily.

honestly, don't even bring the v6 stang and it's fragile drivetrain into the discussion. the gc has so much more potential being boosted from the factory it's just way easier to make more power.

and who the fuck buys a v6 mustang?

I like power too. But I can add that readily and easier than it is for you to Cut weight in the GC without making it a track setup.

I add a turbo setup to the FR-S, everything else weight wise I wouldn't even have to touch. Can retain the stock interior, be comfortable and fast from the turbo addition.

Whereas the GC has the supposed power output you want, but not the weight I want. If I wanted the FR-S weight in the GC, you would have to strip the seats, carpet, sound dead, switch to race buckets, put every carbon fiber panel on the outside that was available and still probably still weigh more than a stock FR-S with a turbo setup on it.

But you just cannibalized the GC down to bare metal, while all I did was bolt-on a setup. I cannibalized my tC because I wanted a track car, decreasing the desire to DD it. Now the FR-S comes along, and weighs a little more than my cannibalized tC which excites me. Cause I have the means of adding power, but I don't have to destroy the interior to shed weight to go with that power. I can have a street car that's just as fast as my track car....(after I add boost to it).
