Subaru is really shaping how people are going to (not) be public about tracking their cars, and obviously hurt their rep. as well. I can't imagine this is profitable for them in the long run.
Shame. Sorry to hear of your troubles CSG. |

They're having record growth and profits right now.

Right, I meant if they steer just one or two people away, it will likely have cost them more. I was just stating the obvious and felt like piling on.
If you were an edge case that wasn't dealing with an already known issue it would be entirely a different matter. They just found a way to not pay for yours. |

If the couple hundred of so people who track their cars with gusto suddenly left the FT86 platform, I doubt Subaru would even care. I don't agree with it, but the reality of the situation is that the vast majority of people who buy a BRZ or WRX will never take it to the track. |

Pretty much sum's up Miatas 1 million vehicles sold, if the Miata had as many cases of total engine failures as this car it would have died a long time ago. The latest reported DI failure/blown engine report was from a poor guy who was still in break-in and never even had the engine over 4k. Good news is a free calibration will be shared that should help keep the car away from deadly detonation. Expected by the end of the month. It doesn't add Power or just fixes the crappy stock tune.

What are you talking about? The early 1.6l Miatas had crankshaft issues, and the early 1.8 Miatas had thrust bearing issues, both of which could result in "total engine failure" if not repaired immediately.

The difference is, Mazda embraces grassroots motorsports, whereas Subaru keeps them away with a pitchfork.

Edit: I was going to mention that Mazda would be my recommended brand at the moment due to their support of motorsports and they've taken care of the owners that I know of instead of some of the runaround I've seen around here from Subaru and Toyota (fuel pump and initial CEL issues?). I'm sure there's plenty of bad apple cases but it doesn't seem to be the prevailing perception like it is with Subaru. |

Mazda doesn't exactly advertise their cars as "track ready" or "ready to track" etc..
