That's pretty hard to do at an Autocross.

When it's pretty much the closest "egit" track we got here from N-FL, just gotta suck it up. But it's not that bad. Whitehouse is seemingly a strict maybe event either way... which sort of sucks.

I'd make the extra drive to Sebring or road atlanta

Sebring is walkin' distance from here compared to Road Atlanta!

Although it's hard to say if I touch Sebring or RA... it's to be at the ALMS races. Question though ; Does Daytona have private track days? Or is it pretty null? I went years and years ago when PCA pretty much last held a day there to my knowledge and memories.

Not that it can't be done... I've seen a few munched differentials and a spectacular wipeout at the timing lights that cracked a Miata's radiator, for starters. Still, even if you do spin out (and you will, quite frequently), a course laid out according to SCCA rules has got plenty of runoff space and no other cars to worry about. Damage is extremely rare, especially in street tire classes, where there's less load on the drivetrain and cars aren't highly strung.

Daytona rarely does. Sebring is so much more fun than rrr I wouldn't even bother with rrr

Thrashy: it happens but the chances of damaging your car on the street are higher. I've seen some carnage in the 13 years I've autocrossed but if you look at the rates of incidents it's pretty darn low.

I definitely will be autocrossing it. I run the CFRC autocrosses here in Orlando every month and occasionally run with Martin, never ran any SCCA events.

You other Florida guys, what about Gainesville? I ran my old 240SX there a few years back. Good entry level roadcourse. Just dont know when they are running next.

I'm really interested into more track days as well but Sebring days are just too pricey for me at the moment. What other places do you guys run?

I don't do many HPDEs anymore (track money goes to racing instead) but when I did I mostly did Sebring, CMP (in South Carolina, lots of friends up there so I'd do vacations to hang out with friends mixed with a track day) and some other tracks around the country from Iowa-east..

For autocross I generally run with a local group named FAST. We use the St Petersburg police training center and the Hernando county airport. Working on getting MacDill Air Force base autocrosses going again too. SCCA around here runs at Hernando County Airport, Zephryhills airport, in Orlando they used to (probably still do?) run on Valencia College and Deland airport (horrible horrible surface). They also do autocrosses at Sebring and that Gainesville test tracks (it's not a real road course IMO, neither is CFRC though IMO).

Starke has ERS (European Rally School) which now has a road course, but I haven't driven in. To the south is PBIR (used to be Moroso) and Homestead.

Daytona to the northeast of you (obviously) does some DEs but no autocrosses that I've ever heard of.

Daytona does Autocrosses in the infield once or twice a year but I havnet made it to one yet (SCCA). CFRC no longer has a roadcourse, it was hemorrhaging money so its just 1/8, drift and autocross now.

The Starke one is in Keystone Heights, my hometown. Im thinking of going up there for the Feb 18th event in my Mazda 3 (or my Z28 if it's ready). My parents still live there so its easy to be there for the weekend

Ive never caught Daytona when they are running a DE. Infact, I didnt know they opened the roadcourse to the public. I thought only the big groups (Rolex, Motogp, etc) got to use it.

I've never bothered to go to CFRC. Looks super ghetto so I never bothered. Nice that Orlando has something now though.

If you go let us know how the ERS road course is. I've only been there for a rallycross before... long before they built the road course.

Didn't know about the AutoX in Daytona. IIRC It was either PCA or maybe NASA that did a HPDE there. I heard about it but didn't have interest in going to Daytona for a DE. I should have a race there this year with ChumpCar though in May for a 14 hour race. SCCA and such has races there all the time so any of them could have added a DE portion easily enough.
