What did you choose, Turbo or SC and why?

I'm looking into goin FI eventually and still stuck on whether to go Turbo or SC. I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to turbo and Sc. Just wondering what others went with and why. I don't race or do track, my car is my daily driving car. Just want to add that extra power for the hell of it. I'm not looking to get my car to 500 Hp or anything. If I can hit 280-300 I'd be happy with that.

Also I guess my decision would also be affected on which set up will work with my mods. Currently I'm running Perrin 2.5 Catback exhaust, next week I'm getting the Perrin Cold air intake installed, rev works header installed and I also have the Perrin radiator hoses. Any feed back would be much appreciated

Since you're already getting a header installed, I would suggest a SC now. A turbo kit will replace the header with it's own manifold.

If you get the Innovate twin screw SC you can use the intake still, but any other SC kits will replace it with their own.

That is not the case all the time.

For example, Ptuning does not replace the OEM header. Same thing with Accelerated Performance kit. You can get any header you like and those turbo kits.

Oh ok so aftermarket header and CAI will work with those kits?

What do you prefer, SC or Turbo? I can't decide lol

^^ The CAI won't work with them, and the aftermarket header will only work with them if the exit is in the same location as stock. Not sure if anyone is making headers with the exit moved back to get longer primaries or not.

I think the only FI kit that uses the stock airbox (or the Perrin CAI) is the innovate SC.

I chose a turbo because I'm a turbo guy in general, but also because revworks is close by and awesome. Also, the innovate looked like vaporware at the time I made the purchase (and wouldn't reach my power goals in any case). That left vortech, and I'm just very anti-centrifugal lol.

In the end it's a matter of personal preference, and any of them will make your car more badass.

I would go with the twin screw because of torque delivery, simplicity of set up,
not heat introduction like turbo, no lag, excellent throttle reponse, great oem looks, plus i love the SC whine sound.

So most turbo and Sc kits out right now won't work if you have an aftermarket header or cold air intake basically.

I'm not super pro, but from my understanding, SC and Turbos compress air before it goes into the engine.

The Cold Air Intake also is basically what also introduces air into the engine, so it will definitely be replaced because the SC or Turbo will be doing that when they are installed.

Aftermarket header works with them. They keep the stock Header, so any header that is designed to mate to stock location (basically all headers designed for NA), fit.

AVO uses the stock airbox and I am running AVO kit and Perrin CAI.

Aftermarket headers fit with the aforementioned kits because they both keep the stock header exit locations.

Sounds like Innovate would be the way to go for you. Very affordable and should finally be for sale to the gross public in 5 to 6 months.

Oh ok, so mostly because it will work with the Perrin CAI and revworks header. So from what I'm reading right now only 2 turbos will work with those 2 aftermarket products, and the innovate sc when it comes out Is that correct?

I don't think any turbo kit other than AVO will work with the Perrin CAI, but that is a relatively cheap part, and you can just sell it. The Innovate Stage 2 kit with intercooler will hopefully hit that bottom of your goal range of around 280 whp.

Oh yeah, I went with the Full Blown turbo kit because at the time I felt like it was the most production like turbo kit available.
