Oh, and do you really think any car company would willingly upgrade what they consider a "last gen" device when they can have you pay an exorbitant amount of money to upgrade?
Apple was the one that caused the headaches for head units. Not scion in this case. With out jumping threw hoops, the iPhone 5 will not do video out. That's why it won't work with the current beSpoke HU.

I have called around and many dealerships are finding the part # PT546-00140 in the Toyota inventory. It is listed as Scion Base Audio. I just want to confirm that it is not an upgrade to the Pioneer standard unit in the 13 MY that I have currently have. Is this going to be the base unit in the 14 MY? If so, then I am going to order.

it is the 2014 "base" unit, but it is a 6.1" touchscreen that is WAY nicer than the 2013 base unit. see my thread about it. you will be able to ADD nav functionality to the base unit, but we dont know the price yet.

I just spoke with the parts manager of toyota of plano and they did tried to put it the PT54600140 on the 2013 frs bespoke and quote " needs the bespoke module to work right ". The bespoke module is not available yet on their system and would cost the same as the pt29600140 or more when becomes available .
The pt 54600140 does not have bespoke module and NAV antenna which regular priced at $525. The Pt 29600140 sells 1085 comes with the module and NAV antenna which is now available .

This part was not available to order on Thursday in TX, will check again Monday. $1,085 is a tough pill to swallow, might look at the Pioneer AVIC-X950BH on ebay for $650 a little harder.

That's what I found after looking at scion.com/bespoke PDF manual. That's the one you would want if nav and Bespoke module. I will probably just call the parts dept on Monday and tell them to cancel my order. The current unit is sufficient as paying $525 to have a touch screen is pointless.

You were/are spot on FRSTRM. I was thinking the same thing as I was reading this thread. If you want all the goodies you will need to get the PT296-00140. And yes, it will cost around $1,100.

Think I'll just go to cartoys and get a better aftermarket Head unit. My service guy at toyota told me to not bother with toyota head units and get a better aftermarket one for the same prices or better.

i like the interface and the look of the touchscreen way better than the base audio. yeah, its $525, but I figure I'll get at least $100 if not more form my stock head unit. so I'm down to $425 on the cost of the new touch screen unit. soon enough someone will wreck a FRS with premium audio and i'll get the module to enable Nav for $200 or less. worth it to me.

Scion says no updates for 1st generation BeSpoke Radio

Hey all,

I just thought I would post this most recent reply I got from Scion regarding the 1st generation BeSpoke radio (first portion is the response I got and bottom portion is what I had written):

FR-S BeSpoke Stereo Discussion Thread Response Via Email (Lisa Prak)06/13/2013 02:52 PMHello XXXXX,

Thank you for contacting Scion.

Scion does not have any plans to offer any system update for the BeSpoke Premium Audio System (PT546-18130) nor make it compatible with the iPhone 5.

If you have any further questions or comments, call us toll free at 1-866-70-SCION, Monday-Friday 5am-6pm PST and Saturdays 7am-4pm PST.

Thank you for your interest in Scion.

Customer By Web Form (XXXXXXXXXXX)06/11/2013 09:50 PMHello,

I am writing to ask for assistance with the FR-S BeSpoke car stereo (Toyota Part # PT546-18130). Is the BeSpoke stereo no longer being supported in terms of firmware or app updates? I have written previously about this same matter close to 8 months ago and would appreciate any assistance. Specifically, iPhone 5 support and improvements with navigation and Bluetooth music streaming would be very much appreciated.

I think it looks great in the car and should have been a base unit for our MY. Keeping things stock is something I always strive to do with my cars unless it's performance upgrades, obviously. I am going to put that extra dough into the GT86 HIDs.
