So it looks like they're supposed to be wired as NRL, but you're saying it's all ready to wire up as DRL? The description says, "...at time of rain and fog." Then you mention that you have to work out the wiring for DRL to be NRL, so I'm just a tad confused, if you don't mind clearing it up a little. Thanks!

The way I read it, the fog halos already function like our DRLs do, but they turn OFF when the fog light switch is set to ON.

I actually wouldn't mind that either. I'm rice enough to use the rings along with the other DRL's and don't want my fog lights distracted with a ring. No clue what that means, but I don't want it that way regardless! Are these glass, then? I would assume so.

They are meant to be used as DRL's. These are for Base 1.6l models that don't have fogs or DRL's. They would be an upgrade to one of the 2.0 models with fogs already existing.

I think that the front end would be entirely to busy with basically three different DRL's. So that is why I will be using them as NRL's.

Yep, @OrbitalEllipses. You got it.

^Lol thinking about it

Question for Matt: That 4-point bracket on the old stock lamp... I don't see one like it on the new one in this shot:

But looks like it has a bracket in this shot. Where'd it come from?

Yep, I forgot to post the bracket pics. D'oh!

The new bracket that comes with the kit will have to be cut and massaged to fit into our housings. It would be plug-n-play I'm sure for an Impreza or maybe even a Forester.

It's pretty straightforward though. If you look at the pics you can see the edges of the bracket are cut. I cut little piece by piece to make sure I didn't cut to much away. I still have to adjust the passenger side bracket a bit to have the Fog centered in the hole. I was trying to retain as much of the bracket as I could and this pushed the Fog inside the housing. It's got a bolt that holds the Fog to the bracket and then you will use the original screws to mount it into the housing.

This is definitely one of those cases where you really gotta put the C in custom.

Okay, so maybe I wasn't paying attention, but where do I order the fog lights? And you didn't answer my previous question of my just wanting to confirm if these are glass fog lights? Because then I'd get the adapter housing for HID H11 kits. Thanks!

I got em from japanparts. I had Yuki rush order them and he actually put my name in their part number. too funny. I'll get with him and have them populated on the website ASAP.

Yep, they appear to be glass but I don't know how to test? It's either glass or some kind of poly carbonite?

I'm definitely the first one stateside and might have even beaten out anyone in Japan with em.

How are you so magical? And how did you dare to be so bold in even giving them a try?

And thanks. I know our stock fog lights are plastic, which is nice for not cracking from road gravel in Alaska, but then you can't put proper HIDs in them. So I want glass housing fogs for HIDs and then maybe clear overlay to help fight against rock chips and cracks.

I'm an absolute nut bag when it comes to OEM mixing and matching. Right now I've got Legacy, Tribeca and Impreza parts on my car. With more fun and excitment on the horizon.

What it really came down to was having an Impreza and a BRZ here in the showroom one day. I started poking and tinkering away as I've done since I'm a wee lad.
As soon as I noticed the part numbers were identical on the Fogs, I pounced into action and put Yuki over in Japan to work. It took a good bit of back and forth to get my point across because he couldn't quite figure out why I would want measely Impreza Fogs on my BRZ that came with Fogs already. But he got the message, put a Matt part# on it and said order away.

The worse that could happen would be that they wouldn't fit. Then I could put em on one of my buddies cars.

You guys could always get the "normal" Outback Fogs like what has already been done by one of our members. You just won't have the halo's. It's the same principal though.

Yeah, I was looking at the Outback ones and super tempted. These halo ones push me over the edge, though!

I like your style of ordering, trying, and knowing you can pass the part forward (for a price) if it doesn't work out. I don't mind doing that so much, but for non-JDM parts it's expensive to ship to Alaska, so we are usually more careful with experimenting. Ordering from Japan is the same, though, so I LOVE ordering when I can.

Thanks, Matt, for being such an inspiration! I'm hoping to follow suite with what you and @switchlanez have going on, except backwards since my entire interior is almost completely GT-86 at this point. Next will be the STI exterior.

Yep, @OrbitalEllipses. You got it.
So when you switch the headlights ON and fogs OFF you'll have these halos? Nifty but I just run my fogs with my lights.

The adapter plug, is that a JDM part too or is that USDM available? Much cleaner than an adapter harness for using Outback fogs (the route I will go eventually).
