Obviously this was a coaching day and looked like a ton of fun. The pull on this kit in the straights is impressive to say least!

Are you running stock header or Ptunings, or has that been released yet?

Ya first timers at the track had to have instructors in the car at all times.
I wasn't able to get it on camera since my GoPro decided to malfunction on me, but I passed everyone on the track(except the red FD) including V8's and V10's. Combo of lightweight and power makes this car incredible on the track!

I am currently on stock, but PTuning is coming out with the headers shortly. They have already taken preorders.

What a long weekend. All in all, we had a great time at GripFest 6 at NCCAR in NC.....nice track, friendly staff, and overall very clean facility. With the exception of a particular ten bazzillion horsepower EVO blowing its guts out all over a back section of the track and delaying the event for more than an hour, everything went pretty smoothly for the 48 cars that competed.

I'll let Kanundrum and MrC chime in later with GoPro footage and their take on the event, but I wanted to give you guys a quick update on our oil cooler and turbo system trackability in general.

Basically, one PTUNING Turbocharged FR-S' drove to the track and both of them drove home. Unfortunately, we had to make room on the trailer for Justin's xA for the trip back so I just drove MrC's FR-S for the 4 hour trip home. Justin suffered some mechanical issues, but not before laying down a time good enough for 2nd place behind a thoroughly modded STI running full meaty Pirelli racing slicks. Not bad for a turbocharged 1.5L Echo engine.

Anyhow, I'll share some oil cooler data that we collected over the weekend.

The event saw ambient temps in the mid 80's.

Kanundrum's 2013 FR-S:
GT3076R
Stock Header
NO oil cooler
93 pump gas tune running about 320whp
Seibon vented carbon fiber hood

MrC's 2013 FR-S:
GTX3076R
PTUNING prototype 4-1 race header
PTUNING prototype air/water Laminova oil cooler system
E65 tune running about 425whp
OEM hood

Similarities:
PTUNING Spec-SS Turbo System with recirc WG
PTUNING DS-333 Dual Exhaust System
Drop in Koyo radiator and stock fans/shroud

Max oil temps seen on track:
No oil cooler - 260F
w/oil cooler - 222-224F

We didn't bother monitoring water temps closely at this event, but it has never been an issue with our turbo system before. Water temps usually never exceed 210-215F.

A few more notes. Even though this event has a start stop format, the track is still over 2 miles in length and the rolling grid line meant that the cars were hot lapped. Basically there is no grid area to park your car, turn off the engine, and open the hood to let things cool down between runs. Both cars had their engines running during each 30-45 minute session with hoods closed.

Also, I closely monitored the oil temps on the long drive back to the shop. The oil cooler also manages to keep the oil temps between 208-215F during regular driving, preventing over cooling of the oil.

So there you have it, two nearly identical PTUNING Turbocharged FT86's running on the same track under the same conditions with and without the oil cooler.

*one other update* Our prototype return style fuel system with swirl pot surge tank worked flawlessly. It allowed us to get out on track with less than a 1/4 tank of fuel without any fuel starvation issues. It also allows us to retain the OEM in-tank fuel pump and assembly.

Stock fuel pump with 770cc injectors on both cars. MrC's car has our fuel return system which uses a custom swirl pot that houses a Walbro E85 485lph pump.

Gripfest Runs from NCCAR with @Ptuning. They should be posting their videos tonight.

You can see my spinout/recovery around the 4:30 Mark. Car was strong in every shift and felt amazing at WOT. I make sure to hit that 8k RPM every single time and got into 5th towards the end of the straight away. Brakes were Hawk HPS and they were horrible and over heated so I will be switching to HP Plus this week as a temp solution for this season (maybe even another brand) until I get a BBK.

@kanundrum your audio came out so much better than mine even though it's mounted in the same location. I can barely here my car in my video. Gotta love that turbo spooling!
