There are 3 batteries TOTAL - (2) wired together for 24v and (1) to run the cars normal electrical systems/start the car.

Thanks,
So does everything come in the kit or do have to buy another battery separate.

Battery area is highly configurable.

Two 1/2U1 18 Ahr SLA and One 28Ahr SLA starter (as per pic) all together 44 lbs. Tray is upgraded to Group 24, 27 will fit. Plastic (UHMW) spacers and ground extension provide seemless fit.

Using three 1/2U1 18Ahr SLA requires no changes (36lbs).

Batteries can be order or sourced locally, I will provide links. In Calgary the 18Ahr's are $44.00ea. Shipping them will nearly cost the same! These are possibly the most common SLA's available, so providing them...... not cost effective.

Site under construction, thats just copied from the 4.3L kit (which has a vacant tray used for an extra battery with isolator)

Sorting it all out.

A feature on the upcoming 2014 Mazda3.

"A variable-voltage alternator freewheels while cruising or accelerating, and when you lift or brake, it generates way more charging energy than the battery could accept. A 25-kJ capacitor absorbs the rest and then apportions it to the battery in doses it can accept. Mazda says it might boost real-world fuel economy by around 5 percent when you're running a lot of electrical loads.

Anybody thinking that car is basically made for a system like an electric supercharger?

Omg, that tech plus the echarge would make an autocross monster! Brake into the turn and charge the cap, then release that energy into the charger when you power out of the corner.

Lovely! KERS without the crazy flywheel.

Awesome job

Just found this thread. This is almost exactly what I was talking about in this post, so I'm ecstatic to see someone has already been hard at work, nice job!

I'll likely be getting an AT, and I'll be running 91, so I expect this will be down the list for me (could the AT make decent use of the extra torque? and you better believe I won't be touching a tune...), but I'm excited about the tech -- it makes far more sense to my EE mind than all that mechanical messy stuff that most FI uses, and it's also a lot cleaner than strapping on a prius electric assist (ugh).
