Since all 3 of you are using the same alignment shop, have any of you considered a different shop, to eliminate the shop as the variable? We haven't had any issues with the so-cal guys losing alignments. I know you guys trust the shop, but just because they're well versed in other cars, doesn't mean they're well versed in Subarus or this platform in general.

What part of your alignments are being lost? Are you guys spinning out and/or going off track at all?
Will do CSG Mike. I will report back in about a month. Getting rear axle replaced tomorrow and track events in May!

How about what the other guy suggested? Redline CV grease?

They do everything from spec miatas all the way up to GT3 cup cars and I trust the shop implicitly.

Get a Cayman GTS R
Will do

Order going in as soon as they accept it!

Just a car. Ideally, you should have brake pads and fluid for your first track day, and an instructor, but nothing more.

Look up local track days in your area.

Yup, I use redline when I rebuild my axles. Good stuff.

1) A car
2) A helmet
3) a track and organization that is well run that provides good coaches
4) an open mind
5) an ego left at home

That's all you need your first few times out. Nothing else. Fight the urge to do anything else. Brake pads and fluid if it turns out you really like the hobby and want to do more.

For whatever it's worth, my self done alignments have stayed where I set them front and rear with spin offs, couple laps with mike on the wheel and all.

Oh, I believe you guys aren't having alignment problems. I just can't explain why we are up here. I can't explain why our wheel bearings failed too. Poor QC at subaru?

Ask your alignment guy to mark the bolts next time to see if they're backing out.

The only other explanation I can think of, is that your car was in an accident before you took delivery, and something is very, very wrong.

I'm familiar with wheel bearing problems on the S2k, but that's cuz the S2k's wheel bearings are undersized. The FRS's is not. I hope yours were covered under warranty.

If your hub was damaged when the bearing went, then you'll continuously lose bearings until you replace the hub.

Will ask him the next time I see him.

But that would mean not one, but 2 BRZs and one FRS were banged up before delivery took place...

Covered under warranty, but got a warning from the dealer that they wouldn't cover again because the car was tracked. I think the car only had 5k miles on it at the time. Never going back to that dealer again. No problems with the bearings have come up since, though. I've tracked the car a few times and taken it off track a few times since.

^ I need to do those skidpad exercises. This has got to be the best thing to do to develop feel and sensitivity for grip. Found BMW club is doing another one of these at T-Hill next month. I wonder where I can find something like this around socal. Or if I just busted into the parking lot at the fairplex and started doing fig-8's and doughnuts how long will it take before the security or cops respond. hmmm...

Alignment is crap too. I had the car realigned after every 2 track events and they were totally off each time. So I spent $300 on alignments last year.

The CV rear axle is probably my fault. I was learning how to heel toe and didn't get the hang of it until after 5-6 track day. But really Subaru, you got to build a slightly stronger rear axle. I'm planning to do another 5-6 days this year. If anything else breaks, I will have a 2013 BRZ for sale.

My mods are the same as orthojoe. Everything broke while I was on OEM tires. I have a new set of 17" rivals I want to run this year.

Any advise on preventing rear axle breaking? I will try to shift smoother. Anything else?
First question- Why are you using the OEM Prius tires to track on? No offense but if you are at the point where you've done 2 or 3 track days then you really need to be using some upgraded tires...

While the shop you are dealing with works on Porsche and Miatas, how many Subarus have they worked on?

As CSGMike said, take the alignment shop out of the equation since we've done literally 50+ alignments on BRZ/FRSs in the NY/NJ area notorious for pot holes etc and haven't had any issues with the alignments coming out of whack.

As for the axles, like others have said it's a fail-safe point for preventing other parts of the car from breaking that are more expensive to fix. Smoothness also will help with this as well.
