I ran stock and grillcraft grills, didn't notice any difference. Look into CSG louvers to help manage temps under the hood, mine are getting installed next week.

On the street I'm currently running:
18x8.5 Rota Grid - Flat Black (5x100/e44/73) on 235/40ZR-18 MICHELIN PILOT SUPER SPORT XL (Fatty setup)

I'd like to pick up a track set of wheels/tires. The plan is to trailer and swap at the track while keeping my alignment and suspension setup the same, with the exception of tightening the dampeners (Tein Flex Z). Perhaps one day I'll update the suspension and convert this car to a dedicated tracker.

Quick note. I'm running a JRSC.

For now I'm looking at the
ENKEI RPF1
or
JR 949Racing 6UL (leaning towards this)

What width and backspacing do you recommend? I'm open to staggered sizing.

Any tires suggestions to research?

My choice for the same setup will be :

949 17x9
Yokohama a005 230/610/17

If you need stock gearing, you can use 625mm diameter.

What tire do you want to run? That'll determine the wheel.

No idea. I was going to focus on the wheels then the tires. Apparently I'm approaching my research backwards

For a track-only set of wheels for a mildly experienced driver such as yourself, I'd consider Hoosier R7s. Keep in mind they generally run a little wider than some DOT tires, so a 245/45R17 would be a LOT of tire. I would recommend a square setup, staggered tires aren't necessary for these cars. There are many other setup changes you can make to adjust the balance before running a skinnier front tire, that's just leaving grip on the table.

949 Racing 17x9 will work for this?

The spec says it works from 8 to 9.5in wheels (page 23) :

https://www.hoosiertire.com/pdfs/speccat.pdf

From the spec too, it's 261mm wide (10.3in). dunno if it fits. Looks like a lot of tire.

Yes, is absolutely no reason to run on purple crack (Hoosiers) if you aren't doing TT. Too expensive and wear too fast.

On of the 200TW Extreme Performance summer tires, 245/40/17 on the 17x9 of your choice will be an excellent setup.

RE71Rs don't last near as long on track. Hoosiers are the most popular tire at Texas race tracks (observation, not statistics) for a reason.

You think Hoosiers are "purple crack," you should price out Michelin slicks.

I just went and measured our 245/40R17 RE71Rs on 17x9 RPF1s. They're almost exactly 10.3" at the bead, but they narrow at the tread. Hoosiers tend to have a little more square profile, so you may have issues with the fenders depending on offset (assuming you had no issues, or were close with 245/40R17 RE71Rs).

The 245/45R17 Hoosiers would be a tad bit taller, as well.

The 949s in 17x9 are a +40 offset.
