Yeah. Ordered Exedy stage 1 and a Fidanza flywheel. Throwout bearing and pilot bearing will be replaced as well. Considering also replacing the slave cylinder since that seems to be a common failure as well.

At 6'3" and 250 lbs, I sit as low as possible with seat bottom all the way back and the seat back pretty upright. No helmet rubbing on the roof. I don't have a problem seeing out or placing the car, but I've been told my spacial awareness is pretty high. I tend to drive by feel, having already placed road variances, seams, debris and stuff in my memory once they're within say a two seconds (?) so I'm not looking at them. I don't know if that makes any sense.

Do the input shaft bearing on the trans while it's out. Not hard to do on Honda manual transmissions.

I'll let my mechanic know. Any other parts you can think of while the tranny is out? We don't know if a tranny rebuild is needed yet until we replace the clutch.

two different things.

I am asking for opinions that given a choice, do you sit low or high in this car.
I sit as low as I can in any car I drive on track or street. Sitting higher is only necessary when you are really short like my wife. At that point she can't see over the dash so raising her seat makes sense. To me the fact that you feel you need to raise your seat to see says you're not looking far enough ahead as a driver. Also like some of the other people said sitting lower helps you feel the car better.

one of our top talent around here drives with 1 hand..... i also know fast guy that drive with outstretched arms.

I fully understand the basic ideology of proper seating position, i've been doing this for close to a decade and instructed dozens of students, but at the end of day the point is whether or not you feel that YOU'RE connected with the car. And for each individual this micro adjustment comes later on in their racing adventures.

I merely pointed out an observation that I've had while owing this car. I experiment every race to try and find the combination that works, and it seems that sitting higher for me seems to connect me to the car better, that is all.

Is a 225/40R17 to stretched on a 17x9?

I can definitely agree that a 215 or 225 can be the superior choice for track days.. My issue is i also plan to participate in quite alot of auto x were i could imagine 255/40R17 helping out, specially for local layouts, very often around go-kart'ish tracks.

Depends on the tire. If a 9" rim is within the manufacturers spec then it should be OK.

Race tracks generally mandate "water only" cooling systems in case a car pops a hose, they don't have to worry about contaminants.

However, due to the colligative properties of solutions, the boiling point of water INCREASES when you put stuff in solution. For example:

70/30 mix of C2H6O2/Water: -55 C / -67 F - 113 C / 235 F

Granted this is the old ethylene glycol coolant, but the same general performance can be expected from modern coolant as well. Point is, the pure water system will boil at a lower temperature and boiling coolant systems are no good.

About to go to my first track day with (hopefully) 1000 miles on the car, will be taking it easy and just learning the car itself since it's brand new and I'm brand new to the track. Will be attending Buttonwillow Open Test day with a friend whos a regular (he races in the GT86 Challenge thing) as well as a few other FRS buddies. Any suggestions or notes that aren't "common sense"? Planning to only do half the day so not sure how many laps I'll actually get in.

Suspension adjustment question:

I recently installed Koni Yellow Struts, Eibach Pro-Kit Springs, and Eibach Anti-sway Kit.

Current Settings:
Struts
Front - 1 turn from soft
Rear - 1/2 turn from soft

Sway Bars
Front - Stiff (+248% from OE)
Rear - Soft (+92% from OE)

Question is:
Should I put the rear Sway at full stiff (+153% from OE) and then adjust the rebound of the Koni's to adjust under/oversteer at the track?
Put another way, if I have too much oversteer then should I adjust the sway bar or strut first?

Thanks in advance!

adjust the shocks is easier

but almost doubling the bar rate will have a more noticeable effect since it's the spring rate that determines weight transfer, the rebound adjustability of a koni merely controls it.
