It's not a scam it's the chance to get the car early with the chance to back out at anytime? How is that a scam?

A scam is if they took your deposit and never delivered your car!

People this is scion...you don't pay over msrp unless you are stupid to buy the accessories.
You are going to be ordering this car exactly like you want, so you can't be scammed.

This is the coolest thing scion has ever done. This is hype to the max. They have this figured out.

I notice the @scion twitter feed has gone dark. Could be the holiday weekend.

You're right, it isn't a scam, it's just bait.

Well, I went to the dealership today & put down my deposit. I worked with the head Scion sales manager. He actually knew about the program and was very helpful. He had to call Scion corporate to verify everything, but I was out in about 30 minutes. He said he'd try to find out more info on my car and would let me know when/if he got more. He seemed really enthusiastic about it.

Sweet, keep us up to date, my dealer def didn't seem too interested so if you get any info plz share!! I'm glad some of us had good experiences, i was so upset/turned off about the whole thing the first day because it really seemed like no one had their shit together haha

I've rationalized it to myself at this point, haters will hate "win a car you have to buy", but hey, usually the highly anticipated new car goes to the guy who can pay the premium price (market adjustment, dealer installed accessories etc) that they add on to make that extra little bit of cheddar off the top, the "first 86" get the chance to get the new toy without having to pay extra or having to deal with the crap that dealers always pull on the high-demand cars. we are all here cuz we were gonna buy it anyway, a few lucky ones just get it early...and at MSRP with the ability to say EF U to dealer bullshit we don't want

Oh yeah!

Has anybody ever ordered a Toyota, Lexus or scion? How long does it usually take from placing the order to delivery of your car?

I know with Nissan it was about 2 months.

Probably depends a lot on supply and demand and where you are in the pre-order line. If you wait a few weeks-month after ordering opens up vs being there in the first day. Also depends if you wait until later on in the year when supply has caught up with demand. Too many variables to give you a clear answer.

I know with Nissan it was about 2 months.
It took about 3 weeks from order to delivery of my tC: 17 days to clear customs (it had arrived at the port of Long Beach the day I ordered), a few days for port installation of wheels, Alcantara seats, and a Pioneer iPod head unit, and another day for transport and dealer prep.

One of 86!

Def didn't expect to see the email, I have been following the BRZ/FR-S has been more a curiousity thing, totally was in SHOCK!!
I am on my 4th Subaru STi now! Great awd+turbo NW Cars! Just curious if an STi BRZ will come out.

I have only owned few Rwd cars: Nissan 350Z and BMW 135i, so def very curious to see exactly how the FR-S handles! FR-S sounds great with all the info so far! The 135i lacked an LSD, but Great Power / TQ ! 350Z was fun too, but mine was an early gen so didn't feel too fast, but handled great! 2 seater was only drawback for me with 350Z.

$500 deposit down Sat and like others, they seemed kinda unorganized and not have much info. But that's ok, I shall wait patiently...

I am going with the Asphalt color, 6spd manual from Appleway Toyota/Scion in Spokane, WA.

Exciting stuff

Thanks!

Mark
