Send a message via AIM to Racecomp Engineering
But i do think the thread title should be changed to reflect that this is with the big drop Sportlines and not the medium drop Pro-kits.

That's interesting. Are you sure it was the Sportline kit? We haven't sold or shipped any of our Sportline springs yet. Even the car we used for testing the Sportline springs now has our coilovers and we had no issues with testing the Pro-Kit and Sportline with the factory shocks.

More details on your friends car and what happened to his shocks would be great.

I agree the Sportlines should really not even be available without an aftermarket shock to put on too.

Every shop I spoke with in my research told me not to get the sportlines without changing the shocks they have all suggested the prolines if you do not want to change out the shocks.

I'm going to run the sportlines until I switch to Pro R1s or R2s. I'll post my experiences with them.

Sorry to say I've been waiting for people to try out the different springs and setups so I can see all of the good and bad and decide lol

I even briefly thought about installing them for the second day of a DE I have coming up and datalogging both days, but then I remembered I'm too lazy to install them without a lift and air tools :P

TRD Japan springs are 0.6" drop all around suitable for stock shocks. STI just released their BRZ sprigns last night which are also a 0.6" drop all around.

As mentioned, 1.5" drop Eibach Sportlines are not a perfect matchup for stock shocks. Eibach Pro-Kit 1" drop is more suitable. Shorter springs mean the shock stays slightly more compressed all the time so shorter = bad. I'd wait for aftermarket shocks suitable for lowering springs because those shocks won't be as tall as stock shocks when uncompressed.

We put hundreds of miles of testing on all of our spring kits. Not to mention we reverse engineer the factory dampers and we KNOW the limits of what the factory shocks can handle. Eibach springs don't blow shocks, bad road conditions blow shocks.

More details of how the OP's friend "busted" his factory shocks and got a set of Sportline springs before we even manufactured them would be great.

The advertised lowering of any spring does not automatically mean that's how much shock travel is reduced by. This is all determined by motion ratio. The motion ratio of the FR-S rear suspesion is 0.76. Multiply 0.76 by 1.4" of lowering and you get 1.064. After we determine all of this information we cycle the suspension to make sure the shock has sufficient travel.

I wasn't trying to offend or anything i for one have never blown a shock due to a lowering spring. I know on lots of forums you will get blasted for putting any drop spring without changing the shocks but its possible he had a bad shock from the start also.

That would be interesting to know.
