It was probably washed only once and then just had the dust pushed around with some old cloth. It had lots of swirled scratches. I have only ever used a touchless car wash since picking it up. The car has only 4,000 sunny kilometers on it. I always had it in mind to get the paint done. It just took this long to find and then book the car in. Funny thing is, I couldn't find anyone closer than over an hour away that did ceramic coating. Then, as luck would have it, I read on a Facebook community site about where I grew up that Scott had just started this business 15 minutes from my youngest daughters home. Turns out his mother went to school with and knew my older siblings. They lived just around the corner from where I grew up. Small world sometimes.

Check out the scratches and swirl marks.
I removed all my dealership swirlies and some random oxidation in March with a bit of elbow grease. The two times I have brought it to the dealership for service I have been adamant that it is written on the work order in all caps "DO NOT WASH CAR". Single bucket of dirty water and old rags used for multiple cars... no thanks.

Dark paint looks great but is certainly laborious to keep looking good.

Enjoy your freshly polished machine, looks great!

Picked the car up last night. It looks amazing!
Scott made note of a couple things. One, Subaru paint is among the softest, (and thinnest) finishes of all the automotive brands. It's very easy to go through the clear coat and damage the paint when prepping. All water based painted cars seem to have orange peel but mine being black is more noticeable than others. Also, he's noticed on the two BRZ's he's done both had damage from the bottom edge of the rear plate frame rubbing on the paint. He had a kit with rubber stoppers for the other car but all he could do for mine was use plastic washers behind the frame to space it out from the body. I'll have to look for a stopper kit.
