Final update:

Picked up the studs at Subaru. Drove to the shop to get them installed. The owner of the tire shop found the same lug nuts and took them to the shop before i got there. Dude was really cool. Showed me all the studs for all four wheels. All were fine except the front passenger side. He replaced all five studs. I took the receipt for the studs to the tire shop owner for reimbursement. It was $22. I asked for $25 total including gas to drive and get the parts. He looked at me like I was crazy and said you want us to pay you for something we didn't do. Didn't want to go back down that road again. I stayed quite and he gave me the $25. End of story. Never going back again.

If I take the car somewhere like that, I usually watch them do the work if possible. Shops usually mind their P's and Q's if they know the owner is breathing down their necks. Glad it worked out in the end though.
