Hmm.. The slippery slope..

Springs..

Then plates for camber.

Then sways to compensate for the longer roll moments..

and the car becomes more knife-edged...... Hmm...

The car looks awesome! Even better since I ordered the SWP! Thanks for the post. Can't wait for more info. And here I was planning to keep everything stock.

RCE is definitely making it difficult keeping the BRZ stock lol. I have to try though, I want to run Stock Class AutoX, until either KW or AST Coils come out to jump to a Street Touring Classification.

In the case of MacPherson struts, deviation from OEM typically creates positive camber, requiring camber plates, ball-joint extenders, lower control arm extenders, crash bolts, or a combination of those things.

Double-wishbone setups typically are not as sensitive to lowering from an alignment point of view, but there are other funky things that happen...
The camber loss under compression is probably my major concern with this car. My other cars are wishbone/wishbone or wishbone/multi-link, so they experience camber gain. Some say the struts shouldn't be a problem, even in an autocrossed or tracked car, but I'm still worried.

Many people do quite well in MacPherson strut cars. Subaru likes to use long control arms, so camber loss is minimized. If you consider the range of motion you're likely to encounter, especially in modded form with higher corner rates, the loss of negative camber will not be that great.

Aw yeah, made the front page.

Are stock class SCCA autocross rules that you can now change the rear OR front swaybar? Bumping up to a stock STI bar may be a very cheap and effective upgrade for that crowd, as previously stated. Hm, I need to research autocross clubs around my area...

worried? what do you mean worried

worried as in how do i tell my wife i have aids worried?

the only thing MacPherson struts are going to do in place of a double wishbone is change the way you approach car setup.

Looks good but...
(my italics)

"One thing we noticed is that the car has a fairly low roll center and if the car is lowered much at all the lower control arms will point upward with the roll center quickly ending up below ground. This will do two things that are not so great; the car will have a large roll couple and a strong tendency to roll which must be countered with stiff springs and/or swaybar."
"Whiteline if you are reading this, this car really needs your long shank ball joints and tie rod ends to correct the roll center."

If it's not draggin' frame, it's not low enough bro d00d!

But seriously, that looks just about right! Too bad I'll be going with coilovers...

Anyone else notice this? If that's a Limited, that's about 60-70lbs below target! - EDIT: This is apparently without jack & tools, but usually manufacturer's listed weight is dry weight, so 2762 for a Premium and ~ 2780 for a Limited (before fluids?), and this is showing 2714 with full fluids and no jack/tools (13 gals of fuel weighs about 65lbs, for reference). That is AWESOME!

Oh, thanks. I remember I read something about roll center in a BRZ but couldn't remember where. So I'm definitely waiting to lower before WL comes up with longer RCK and then some, for a second revision of those
First iteration of the original WL RCK wasn't too durable.

Did anyone try these? Looks more adequate.
