New Turbo Kit Sneak Peek(Ptuning)
I'm no expert but I see minimal piping and fewer bends, especially at the MAF, which "should" be optimal for tuning and increased airflow. All I can say is "good shit"! It's great to have options.

Only thing that seemed "ehh" to me was the turbo lag when entering 2nd gear. Traction control maybe

Yup traction was an issue, there is barely any lag we were on wet roads and things got squirrely. Was posting up a video more for the sound, obviously proper official videos of dynos and such should be coming. Just posted up what I thought was a nice drive and so people could hear the sound properly.

And the sound is glorious.. Exactly what was expected.. I can't wait to hear open wastegate applications as well once these kits start getting installed

I think a few people are again forgetting that our intercooler piping is shorter than ANY WRX/STi with a front mount intercooler, so this is a non-issue. Remember that a shorter intercooler pipe path with a lot of hard bends, kinks, etc isn't always better than one that may be slightly longer, but with much smoother radius bends, transitions, etc.
Furthermore, the benefits gained from our the exhaust side routing is well worth all the effort we put into locating the turbo where we do. BTW, if you look through the end of our 3" downpipe, you can see the turbine wheel. ![]() This may surprise many of you, but even with the largest turbocharger of the bunch, we have the quickest spoolup and best low end torque curve of some of the more popular FI systems on the market. We've tuned or tested a few of the more popular systems so far. Also, the video you see above was taken on wet roads. What you're seeing is throttle modulation. It's not our only promotional video, but rather another one for folks to see. I can assure you that the transient response on our turbo system is excellent. After all, we're only running off of a 6psi spring. It doesn't take any turbo system very long to transition from off boost to 5-6psi. Below is our latest 6 psi spring pressure tune (back to stock header too and still on 93 pump gas). We're looking to zero in on our final base map so the tune is still not 100% complete. The graphs compare our PTUNING turbo system vs. two other turbo and one other SC system. All dynoruns start at 2k rpms and use the exact same ramp rate (elapsed run time on the dyno).

I just love the fact that the turbo is not stuffed right under the hood beside the airbox where there's no ventilation.

Any pictures of the more complete pipe routing or did I miss them??
Also, what engine management did you use? |

New Turbo Kit Sneak Peek(Ptuning)
Love their shop. Everyone is friendly (Toan, MrC, Ken, Patrick, Abel, etc.). After I arrived, without advance notice, Patrick gave me a lift to Avis to pickup my rental that I had already paid for in advance, since Avis claims they need 24hrs notice to pickup a customer. So as a bonus I got to experience his PTUNING exhaust on a NA 86. On a side note, I won't be using the Avis in Manassas again, their service is horrid. The guys at PTUNING answer any and all questions, without becoming irritated or frustrated with you. They will give you a tour of everything and show you projects as they go through development. They complete their jobs within their quoted time (they actually got mine done early). Their prices are more than fair when you consider how meticulous they are with their work, as evident by their turbo system. Their tuner suffers from extreme OCD, which is what you want from a tuner. Toan will stay working until he is satisfied, which is usually way beyond you're satisfied. Before he even saw me, he had my dyno graphs in his hand. He will breakdown every minute detail to you (AFR plot, Boost Plot, etc.) and explain where your restrictions to making more power lie. Even on a busy event and dyno day, Toan took the time to explain everything in detail to me, while a car was being loaded on the dyno. In fact, he still had my file from my first trip to PTUNING in 2006! He also gained some muscle since that last trip...don't catch him in a dark alley. If there's anything I pick on them about it's because they are so meticulous with their work, they often are late to market so they miss out on early adopters. They often don't advertise as well as I think they should. Also, their website is a blast from the early 2000s. I bought a case of ENEOS Sustina from Amazon, then a week later I get a message from Patrick saying PTUNING carries it, I would've purchased it from them had I known. I bought some TOM's tails and 2 weeks later I see a post in the classifieds that PTUNING has them. In my honest opinion they are just a little late each time but if you can get over that minor complaint their level of service is matched by few. I have yet to have an issue with them and because of that I'll go back...and I'm pretty hard to please, ask my girlfriend. If I had to summarize their service I would say it's very much like Nordstrom, which is the pinnacle of retail customer service.
