Trying to figure out which GT5 tires are closest to the real thing is relevant to predicting real-world lap times, which is the point of this thread. To that end, it's worth noting here that the real-world stock GT86 won't attain the times in the Official GT86 GT5 Stock Lap Times thread.

Without getting dragged into the spat between your and RaceR, I will say that IMO it was reasonable for him to initially bring up tires in that thread. It was then subsequently clarified that it's a competition for fun rather than accurate stock lap times, and the tires discussion there ended.

So what's the problem?

The Official GT86 GT5 stock lap times thread is not about that. This thread maybe is, but that thread is not.

I keep getting the two mixed though so, its fine that it's over here, my bad..

LOL, I had a feeling that might've been what happened. No worries.

No it's not. VLN config is shorter then 24hr config.

I dont know is that mazda speed3 that fast at all.. I'v never driven, but according to this review it is bad in corners. Maybe gt86 can beat atleast mazda..

I'm not the only one who stated that. Go tell everyone which configuration it is then, cause it's not the one we are currently running in our little challenge.

I don't know what challenge you're talking about. I saw someone posting a image from the VLN race, assuming the laptimes done by Gazoo were set on just the Nordschleife. Then you stated it was done on the 24hr config. Then I stated it was set on the VLN config, which is a bit different then the 24hr config. I don't know who else stated it was done on the 24hr config, but they're wrong.

This is the 24hr config :

This is the VLN config :

(lap starts @ 1min.)

Where the VLN config makes a right turn @ 1:49, the 24hr config continues to go straight and then makes a left turn.

24hr config = 25,378 km
VLN config = 24,358 km

The VLN was not just on the Nordschleife. The lap time for the VLN car was a little over 10min laps. It wouldn't take 10mins for even a bone stock GT86 to lap just the Nordschleife. When I was talking about the 24hr config, I was referring to GT5. In GT5 it's called the 24hr config and it should be the layout that the real life VLN race took place.

And I was talking about this thread.

The VLN layout in GT5 is called Nürburgring Type V.

Just to set the record straight: when someone asked about the VLN layout, Ichitaka said it was 24 hr configuration, and I said it is the Type V configuration, as said by Michel, in GT5 for the VLN 4 hour endurance race. My post was on #132.

There are differences between the 24-hour configuration and 4 hour configuration, and they are shown in GT5 as 24 hours race and Type V race. The differences are mainly in the GP section: the 24-hour configuration uses most of the GP section except the looping after the first corner, whereas the Type V (4 hours) uses the looping after first corner but did not use the hair-pin on the furthest side.

The challenge that Dragonitti mentioned is purely on Nordschleife so a 8 min drive is expected.

The original intent of bring up VLN race was to test whether GT5 has any real-world bearing in terms of performance. So Ichitaka brought up the VLN race result to see if we can reproduce similar result in GT5. The result was somewhat close: my time of 10:33 vs 10:26 in race result vs 10:23 in someone else's time.

The Nurburgring track has many layouts to play with so we need to be clear on which is which.

There is no way in hell the FRS/FT86/BRZ would beat the Colbalt SS on this course with all these long straights and long sweepers.I love this car as much as the next man and the balance it brings to the table but this kind of track is about big HP, theirs no way you can ignore the numbers. The Colbalt SS is 1 of the best sorted fwd chassis around if not the best and it only weighed 2900 pounds with very good brembro brakes and they regualarly dyno 235 to 250 to the wheels bone stock, the fanboyism is out of control on here this car will be lucky to put down 170 to the wheels considering rwd has more drivetrain loss, sheesh be real about it.
