On that note: How is the C7 purchase going? Any update?

All I'm saying is people probably know "wrangler = rough" or "elise = unrefined sports car", but I don't think there's common knowledge about what Toyobarus are like because they never existed before now
Yep the "ohhhh shiny" syndrome.

Those aren't exactly the kind of people who frequent enthusiast forums. There's maybe a few dozen posts saying "I bought this car on impulse and didn't do any research".

I think the only person I can name off the top of my head is maybe Tcoat.

No doubt that there are a good number of people who did such a thing but I think what's more common around here is a stubbornness and naivety about what a car is, someone who dismisses the review they just read saying "I can live with that" or "it won't be so bad" because what they've built up in their mind eclipses reality.

I know I've done that before, but usually it only takes a sea-monkey farm or expensive toy or two for most people to gain that pragmatism.

Anyone who hates their FR-S/BRZ made a hasty, ill-informed purchase.

This is a fantastic car and essentially one of the last of its kind made & sold where every desire of the automotive purist was listened to and the car designed and built accordingly.

Ya, I preach that sermon about once a month or so!

.
I can see how my stories of the revelations upon spotting the car and initial discussions with the salesperson (Gotta go visit her again when it is warm out) would give the impression it was on "impulse" but you must have missed a few posts someplace.
After the opening discussion there were almost 2 weeks of back and forth before everything was signed and I took delivery. During those two weeks I read probably 100 reviews and scoured this forum for thoughts, opinions and what I could determine were facts. I probably spent 40 or 50 hours just reading and when I was done I knew exactly what I was getting into.
Even just 3 or 4 reviews into the search really told me enough that I would not have been taken by surprise on anything though so there really is no excuse for people that are.
The only thing from reading here that I changed my mind on after getting the car was going FI. The "needs more power" crowd had me convinced until I actually started driving it and figured it was just fine as is for my needs.

Whereas I drove by the dealership, thought it looked cool from a distance, test drove a used one, and walked out a few hours later with new one that hadn't even been unwrapped yet. I did wait for them to unwrap it first. A year later, couldn't be happier. My only gripe is that I have to borrow a vehicle to go buy plywood.

I was bargaining for all the goodies it had on it so it took longer. The more time that went past the more I got for free or cheaper. It was worth the wait.

Well at least you won't have to wait for a long ocean voyage!

I have a home depot a few miles away that rents big pick up trucks for like 15 or 20 bucks an hour, and snow is a foreign concept here, so I'm good to go year round. Best DD I ever had.

Same on the rental but snow is half the year. Used to it though so still the best year round DD ever!
