New Member From Houston, TX
Hey everybody, my name is Arthur, new member and new to the FT86. I just picked up a 2015 BRZ Premium over Thanksgiving weekend that an Austin dealer was trying to move for more 16' (among many).
A little bit about me: in the natural gas/LNG trading business, NASA/SCCA racer (SM), previous owner of 2x Subaru Impreza WRX STis (I ran the 2 NASIOC Subaru Meet & Cruise in Austin a few years ago, maybe we met), originally from France, currently live in Houston, people person! For the last 3 years I've been driving a big, comfortable, and quiet 7 series BMW so coming back to this is quite the change and I'll be honest, I've forgotten some of the aspects of owning one of these cars since my last STi. I've noted a few things below that I've noticed since this weekend, hoping some of you 10K+ milers can give me your input as to the normality of some of these things. - Putting the car into 1st gear, I feel the car wanting to/actually inching forward for a brief millisecond with clutch completely in. - Transmission hesitates (little grind/rejecting vibration) going into 2nd from time to time > this could be my habit of passing through neutral versus straight down when driving casually - Engine does tick quite loudly versus my STis - TPMS has been on since I purchased vehicle I'll add anything else as it comes up. Great community it looks like, looking forward to meeting some people at meets and/or cruises. |

You'll find a much more active Houston group on FB:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/Houston86Club/ As for some of your issues: 1) Not sure. 2) That's normal when the gearbox is cold. Some have noticed improvement from switching the gearbox oil to something like Motul Gear 300 75w90. You'll also have more luck if you let the revs hang for a moment in first before you shift to second. 3) Can't say for sure, but this is definitely a noisy engine. 4) Probably just the cold weather. Might need to top up your tires. |
