My idea of a "BRZ STI"

Alternative title "My Riced out BRZ"

Just about to hit 48k miles when I'm "done" my car. I say "done" because these wheels are actually not staying on the car. They're from my Hawkeye Impreza and I just wanted to do this to see how I liked them.

What makes up my idea of a BRZ STI?

-JDL Catless UEL / JDL Overpipe / JDL catted and resonated front pipe
-Perrin 2.5" resonated exhaust
-RCE Yellows
-SPC LCA
-JPM knee pads/ gauge hood / shift boot and e-brake boot
-04 STI 5x100 wheels (but will replace with something else nearly as light)
-Cheap lip kit because this car is meant for abuse, not being pampered (yet I manage to do both)
-Continental DW's
-JDM STI engine, trans and diff mounts (not yet installed)
-JDM underbody panels
-Toms tails
-5 Axis spoiler (just not a fan of the OEM spoiler)
-Little things like MTEC shifter springs, perrin shifter bushing and steering rack mounts

I think about the only mods I did outside of my vision as an NA BRZ STI were the Grimmspeed hood struts, grimmspeed tool tray, and Perrin shift knob. And opticoat.

Anyways, I got the side skirts on last weekend with an FRS friend's help and today I decided to finally take the wheels off the Impreza to see how I liked this look. I think I like it.

Overall, the car feels decently more powerful than a stock BRZ and it has a good bit more usable power. Level of grip and suspension all around (and alignment) are dialed in to my liking. Basically how the car would have come stock if the engineers got drunk and gave me the final say. The resonators in the front pipe and perrin exhaust make the car shockingly quiet when you aren't trying to get on it. And perfectly loud when you aren't. It's perfect (to me).

Love the STI wheels! They are hard to find for less then $250 a wheel used in my area.

Very nice! I don't think an STI would have a duckbill though, I'd expect it to be a big bench wing on the back instead. Also, I know you aren't keeping these wheels but I think they are a bit too sunken in so I think you should go for something with a lower offset, like 17x8 +35 would fit perfectly with a 225/45 tire.

STI went both ways actually. GT Wing on the 2013 ver, lip spoiler on the 2015 ver. (both were part of optional packages on the car though)

Or be lame like me and do both:

I agree completely on both accounts. A 17x8 +35 is exactly what I want, I'm just still struggling to find the best wheels for me (price/function/form) in this size. And I completely forgot that STI made a wing for this car....time to go check how many organs I need to sell so I can own it.

The real STI pinks didn't fit my idea of a BRZ STI at a slightly too modest drop of 15mm (somehow the extra 5mm drop from the RCE is perfect to my discerning eyes)

I actually have a base model BRZ without a spoiler from the factory. Otherwise, no, the 5axis spoiler wouldn't cover the stock spoiler holes.

Here's another picture I snapped the next day

Love your car! I'm a big fan of the wheels. I sent this thread to a few friends before I bought mine.

You're near the Philly area, right? Would love to check it out sometime.

I love that you managed to keep the stock ride height and make it look good.
What skirts are those?

I actually moved from philly to WV late last year. I should update my location. I still visit when I can though.

I'm on stock shocks but the car is dropped 20mm with RCE springs. The sides are just something cheap off eBay. I really like the Sti ones and they'd go better with the car since it has the STI style lip and rear spats but I didn't wanna deal with more 3M double sided tape on my car. The spoiler is hassle enough.

I can't find where to buy the huge STI wing. Anyone have any leads?
