Getting different advice from every shop I talk to.
I just bought the D3PE kit and I am in no rush to get it installed but I am trying to do my research and I get a different answer to almost every question I ask from each shop. What I want is to know what I need to buy in order to safely run this kit at about 300whp with at most 7-8lbs boost. I know things need to get tapped like the oil pan which I am not willing to do myself so I would like to have the tap done professionally or if reasonable the whole kit.
One tuner that I got recommended to me on this site said stock injectors are a safer bet as they won't push things too far (I am paraphrasing) so I will just need the boost controller, afr, and of course the tuning. He is partnered with RevWorks and does a lot of work on these vehicles so with no incentive for making money off me in a shop I am inclined to believe him. Then I call another shop to see about install and they said $1500 and that I will need new injectors and fuel pump at minimum. Who is right? That price sounds insane considering it is a bolt on kit. Can someone please tell me what I need exactly? What is a reasonable price for this install? I don't mind waiting and saving but I don't want to get screwed over. P.S. It is the kit that was just sold on here (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97941) and I live in the Orlando FL area. |

Your getting different answers but there are parts that are needed and parts that are a good idea. Stock injectors can be fine as long as they are not maxed out, your tuner will tell you this. A upgraded drop in fuel pump is a easy and cheap enough upgrade for some piece of mind. An electronic boost control solenoid is nice because it can be tied into fail safes in EcuTek. AFR gauge is always nice to monitor if you know what your looking at, other wise it can be more trouble then its worth.
1-1500 sounds about right for the install. When installing a used kit have a experienced shop do the work, chances are there are some little things missing.

To run 300 WHP, stock fueling system is absolutely fine. FWIW, KAB customs in Sunrise FL charges somewhere around 500-1000 for install.

Haha you figured that out fast. Yeah I am for sure going with him. Just looked up KAB, they're a bit out of town for me to drive to but SpeedZone Performance quoted me at 800$ for the install, which is reasonable based on all else I have heard and read. They did recommend the injectors but also said that we can do an oil drain line without welding or drilling into my oil pan which I far prefer.

The stock fuel pump is more than capable for your power goals.

Awesome guys. Thank you for the advice. That is exactly what James said. Now to just decide if I will self install or take it somewhere.
