I must be a magent for car accidents ... no fire this time luckily!

It's a little wonder I ended up designing fire extinguisher brackets ... I must be a magnet for car accidents ... saw ANOTHER one unfold today ... this one involving 9 cars.

Came across a 3-car fender bender ... cars were flying up the hill and got totally blinded by the morning sun ... one guy pulled over because he couldn't see ... two cars piled into him. Occupants were all out and sitting on the sidewalk.

Then another guy and I ran down the road to try and flag everyone to slow down as they came up the hill ... but they were totally blinded too ... they literally couldn't see us or the car crash because of the sun light.

I had 4 cars pile up just a few feet in front of me within a minute ... as I'm shouting at them to slow down and waving a light at them. They just couldn't see me or anything ahead.

The police arrived and set up their cars with lights down the hill and I said "They need to go down further ... the cars still have sun in their eyes there and won't see you." The cop said to me "We know what we are doing." ... within seconds BANG ... a tacoma piled into another car right where the cops were parked.

In the end there were 9 cars involved. No one badly hurt.

Luckily there wasn't a fire ... I was cycling at the time ... haven't designed a fire extinguisher bracket for bikes yet!

No I was still too shaky and adrenaline filled from watching it all unfold.

Certainly puts the wind up you.

Some of the drivers were just teenagers on the way to school ... my son just got his license, so I could help but think what if it was him.

I am a sponsor and I'm in the general area, and I didn't even link to my promotion or even reference it (which I am perfectly entitled to do).

Please keep this in mind ... Without sponsors, the forum wouldn't exist.

Here's the funny part ... No one twisted your arm to open the thread. Are you angry at me for posting it? ... Or are you angry at yourself for reading it?

Are Californians that can't drive in the sun the equivalent to Canadians that can't drive in the snow?

Apparently, those Californian cops fail at directing traffic to prevent further pile-up. Are the Canadian ones just as bad too? lol

Back in the spring I was traveling down a 2 lane highway (the Canadian version of an interstate) when all of a sudden this cop comes wiping up past me and straddles the centerline. He slows us down to about 40 MPH and keeps us there for about 10 miles then slows us right down to about 10MPH for a couple more. Turns out there was an accident and he had just spent the last 12 or so miles slowing down traffic to the point everybody was at a safe speed when they came to it.
Does that sort of thing always happen? No of course not but sounds like ours may still be a bit better at it.

I'm becoming more and more suspicious of TheBracketeer always being the first one at the scene of an "accident" with his trusty fire extinguisher. There's something just a wee bit convenient about this many coincidences.

But in this case, he had no extinguisher...

Too many people started asking questions, so he had to throw in an outlier to help strengthen his deniability!

man you should see Californians when it rains ... they stay at the same speed ... don't allow any extra braking distance (I'm an Aussie ... we learn to dodge kangaroos and emus)
